Hearing Caleb’s name again, I was stunned. Mrs. Davis continued, “But he doesn’t deserve you, so I didn’t tell him.”
After dinner, I returned to Alex and Ethan’s villa. Ethan welcomed me and brought me soup. We talked about the art exhibition. Then, I went to bed.
At the company, Caleb stared at a photo. It had been two years, and he’d used all of his resources to find me, but it didn’t end well. He smiled bitterly. It was our wedding photo, our only photo together.
He knew it was too late. At first, he thought he was just not used to living
without me. But then he saw the contract

and realized he had fallen in love with me.
Unfortunately, I was gone, and I wouldn’t
give him another chance.
His assistant knocked.“Mr. Hayes,
you’re invited to an art exhibition
tomorrow.”
After our divorce, Caleb realized how
little he knew me. He had thought I was
just interested in painting, but later he
found I majored in art. He started visiting
art exhibitions, expecting to understand
me more and get closer to me.
My classmate sent me the list of
attendees – media and business
executives. She said I didn’t have to go
there if I didn’t want to meet Caleb. I
shook my head.“It’s okay.”

I knew we’d meet again. I didn’t have anything to fear. I’d repaid my debt. We were nothing but strangers.
On the day of the exhibition, many visitors came to the gallery. Caleb was among them. He’d visited many
exhibitions and known something about art. Every painting was beautiful until he saw one particular painting: A landscape with no extra lines. It was called Moonlit
Mountain.
