After the press conference, Johnny returned to Cole in the afternoon for a meeting.
The moment they stepped into the conference room, Cole’s technical team burst into enthusiastic cheers upon seeing Maggie.
Word of what had happened at the Jamison Group press conference had already spread.
Among the team, Maggie had been one of the few people they’d worked closely with. They already knew she was brilliant–but after watching the press conference, they realized she was even more impressive than they had imagined.
Hearing their congratulations, Maggie smiled warmly. “Thank you, everyone.”
It took a couple more minutes for the excitement to settle before the meeting officially began.
Throughout the discussion, Glen sat in silence, watching Maggie.
He had tried several times recently to invite her out–each time politely declined due to her busy schedule. He had planned to try again in the next few days, but now…
He’d assumed that, having spent time around her and discussed technical issues, he understood the full extent of her abilities.
But just like the rest of Cole’s engineers, he realized today that he’d underestimated her. Drastically.
Could someone like him really be worthy of someone like her–someone so capable, so radiant?
Especially when, despite their frequent contact, it was painfully clear that Maggie had never once shown the slightest romantic interest in him.
That thought made Glen quietly lower his gaze.
After the meeting, Maggie left the conference room, heading back to her office. Glen caught up with her and said in
a lower voice, “I saw the Jamison Group press conference. Congratulations.”
Maggie smiled. “Thanks.”
With her hands full handling the Jamison project, she’d already fallen behind on Cole’s matters. She was clearly in a rush and left shortly after.
Glen didn’t follow.
It wasn’t that he’d given up.

She set the papers down and asked, “Mr. Zack’s here?”
Over dinner yesterday, Mr. Zack had mentioned he’d be visiting Wilson Tech this morning to discuss their upcoming collaboration.
It was ready past ten. He should’ve arrived by now.
“Um… Mr. Zack’s secretary called a few minutes ago,” the secretary said hesitantly, “He said he’s temporarily putting the collaboration with Wilson Tech on hold.”
Julia froze for a second. A sharp understanding crept into her chest. She nodded slightly. “Got it. You can leave.”
But the secretary didn’t move.
Instead, she looked at Julia again and added carefully, “A few other CEOs‘ secretaries also called. They said they’d need to reevaluate the partnerships they were negotiating with us…‘

Julia had expected that things wouldn’t go smoothly after the Jamison Group’s press conference.
But she hadn’t anticipated the fallout to be this swift–or this brutal. Deals that had been nearly finalized were unraveling overnight.
Worse still, she had just poured two to three hundred million yuan into those projects to speed up progress.
Her expression darkened.
It took a moment before she was able to steady her voice again. “Understood. You may go.”
