Chapter 5
“Ashley’s POV”
I opened my eyes slowly and I could feel the comfort and warmth of the bed that I was laying on. I winced through the throbbing pain in my head as I tried to figure out where I was.
The lights in the room were dim but it was more comfortable than anything that I would have dreamt of, and maybe it was too comfortable.
I took a deep breath and I could smell the freshness of lemon through the room and for some reason, it seemed familiar. I tried to sit up but a throbbing pain shot through the back of my head, causing me to lay still.
“Ahh.” I groaned softly, unable to hold back the pain. I looked around the room to see if there was anyone else in it, but it was just me. At that moment I noticed that my dress had been changed and the wounds had been cleaned and bandaged.
I shut my eyes for a moment and tried to remember what happened and how I got there, but just as I did, the door creaked open. I turned my head quickly, momentarily ignoring the pain and my eyes fell on someone standing by the door.
I immediately recognized his stance and figured that it was the same man who rescued me from the rogues.
He began to walk towards me and with every step that he took, the sound of my heart beating got louder.
“Hello, Ashley.” He said softly, looking down at me.
I froze but I kept my eyes on him. He had a warm smile on his face and if I was just seeing him for the first time, I would definitely disagree that he was the same person who fought off those rogues.
He had piercing blue eyes and a handsome baby–like face.
“Can you hear me?” He spoke out again, this time with more
concern.
I opened my mouth and tried to say something. “My head hurts. I managed to say in a low whisper.
The smile on his face seemed to be constant and he nodded once more. “I figured that was the first thing you’d say. You’ve been through a lot, but you’re safe now.” He whispered softly.
I tried to say something in response to him, but I couldn’t think of anything to say that wouldn’t hurt. I watched as he sat down by the bed and kept his eyes on me.
“My name is Ethan, Ethan Smith. Beta of the Goddess Heart pack.” He said in the same manner. His voice wasn’t too and it was too low either, he seemed to be in so much control and that made me feel safe.
“I’m, ummn” I tried to say, but even trying to remember who I was, felt like some sort of hard work.
“I know who you are, you are Ashely. The sister of Alpha Xavier, the head of our pack.”
loud
1 frowned slightly in confusion and if I wasn’t on the bed and unable to move without pain, I would have burst into laughter. “What’s that?” I asked with a doubtful smile on my face, I felt like for some reason he was trying to theer me up, but he didn’t have to lie.
“It sounds strange doesn’t it?” Ethan replied calmly.
“Ldon’t know how it sounds, I can’t tell. Sister of Alpha, yeah I don’t think I’m any of that.” My voice trailed off at the end of my sentence because I was staring at him and his expression force never changed. I was beginning to think that he probably wasn’t lying.

He pushed his chair forward, and took a deep breath.
“It sounds funny and strange, I know.” He began, willing to address my confusion.
You were kidnapped when you were just a child, many years ago. Your brother has been searching for you for many year now, and it wasn’t until recently that we were able to find you.”
“How?” Lasked with tears in my eyes.
“First of all, it was supposed to be easy, since you’re a werewolf and you are also royalty. We should have found you m carlier than this, but we only just recently got a hold of your inner wolf… Believe it or not, Ashley, you led us straight to pe
“I don’t have a choice but to believe that you saved my life after all,” I replied softly, trying not to think too much about it.
I placed my hand on my stomach and I could feel life in it. I was alive after all, and that was all that mattered.
“Your inner wolf led us to the Sacred Moon pack, and then quickly into the woods, this isn’t a fairy tale. Ashley.” Ethan’s vo echoed again and he was looking at me with concern in his eyes.
Hearing him mention Sacred Moon pack again, made my tongue bitter. I had slowly begun to believe that Ethan was right after all. Everything that happened wasn’t an accident, he found me because of my inner wolf, and I was attacked because someone sent those people.
1 had heard of the rogue’s attacking people and I knew some of the details quite well, and what happened to me was definitely a coordinated attack.
“Whatever happened to you before, Ashley, you don’t have to think about it anymore. You’re with your real family now, and we’ll do everything to protect you and make you feel right at home.”
1 hadn’t realized that I was frowning, or that tears had fallen from my face. I wiped it off and forced out a small smile.
“I guess so,” I said softly and tried to sit up, but the pain wouldn’t let me. And just then, the door creaked open for the second time and someone walked in.
“Ashley.” I heard him say from where he stood. I turned my face to Ethan and then back to the person who, if I had to guess, was probably the Alpha of the pack and was supposed to be my brother.
“Xavier.”
