“Nolan’s POV
The night was cold and quiet, my senses were heightened but I couldn’t even hear a sound as I stood by the window. I was looking down at the garden and I still couldn’t hear anything, not even the sound of the crickets or the singing of the frogs, the only sound that I could hear was that of my heart beating faster and faster with each passing second.
I moved back slowly, as I spotted something that I was afraid of and then I began pacing around the room. My mind was a storm of thoughts, racing with thoughts of Ashley, spinning out and getting beyond my control.
“What the fuck did you do, Nolan?” I muttered to myself as I glided through the room, unable to stop.
My eyes fell on the clock in my table and I stopped, it was well past midnight and there still wasn’t any news from Xander The clock itself was a gift from Ashley, thoughts of how she looked at me the last time flooded my mind again, the look of disgust and anger.. I had never seen her like that before.
I walked towards the table and grabbed my phone, my hands shaking as I dialed Xander, it rang once, then twice and then it went straight to voicemail
“Fuvk!!” I yelled in frustration. “Fuvking answer your phone, Xander!” I cursed loudly,
The thought that she might be in danger was shifting me to the edge. “I could have done it differently,” I muttered to myself once again. Yes, I wanted a divorce, but this wasn’t what I wanted, to push her into her death…no!.
I looked down at my phone again and dialed Xander one more time, but it was the same as before. With anger, and with all the strength I could muster, I threw the phone against the wall and watched as it broke into countless pieces, spreading
across the room.
I thought of going into the woods myself but decided against it. Zoe was already mad at me for how I acted and even though I wasn’t trying to please her with everything I did, I still didn’t want to upset her too much.
I stood by the window and ran my fingers through my hair, exhausted and frustrated about how things had gone, and then, I heard the sound of a car pulling up outside the mansion.
I was at the door before I could think about what to do next, gliding through the mansion with ease before opening the door. But as I did, I found Xander climbing out of his car. His clothes were still the same as before, only that it has more blood now and was torn in many places.
“Did you find her?” I asked desperately, moving towards him in calculated steps. He hesitated, taking several breaths to calm himself down and even though I was desperate, there was nothing I could do to hasten him up.
He inhaled deeply and walled–tied me with his eyes fixed on me
“No, Alpha.” He said quietly. “There was no sign of her anywhere
I swallowed hard and assumed that I didn’t just hear what he said
“What’s that? how hard could it be?” I asked again, moving close to him. “Did you even try?”
“I wouldn’t have the boldness to come here if we didn’t.” Xander said calmly.
“The woods were full of blood like it normally was, but tonight i was different. It was a lot more than usual. We couldn’t tell which one was hers.”

He winced slightly and sighed again. “If she went through that way, Alpha Nolan. Then there is no way In hell that she would have survived, we lost some men today Nolan.. now just imagine and tell yourself the truth..if Ashely went through there by herself, do you think she’d survive?”
“Fuvk you!” I blurted out suddenly. I tightened my fist and moved closer to him, but he didn’t move an inch.
“She’s dead, Nolan. At least that’s what I think.. maybe she’s not. But there’s no way we can guarantee that and there’s no way you’d believe that.”
“Screw you!” I yelled, holding myself from putting my hands on him.
You’re wrong, it can’t be. You just didn’t look hard enough, she’s somewhere, she can’t be-,”
“Nolan,” Xander called softly. I turned my face to look at him and he had a sad look on his face..
“Get out,” I said to him, but this time my voice wasn’t raised. He kept his eyes o to say it for a second time, he turned around and got into his car
on me for a second and without waiting for me
I watched as he drove away and I was stuck in the same position, unable to move. I threw my head back and chuckled softly.
“You’re wrong.” I whispered under my breath and turned around to go in, but just then, I saw the light from a car shining at me. It wasn’t Xander, I could tell from the sound of the car.
I took a deep breath and turned around, and Zoe got out of the car. She was smiling and was walking towards me with her arms outstretched, but just before she could get to where I was, spoke out
“What are you doing here?” I asked weakly.
She stopped in her tracks and was looking at me.
“I’m your fiancée, Nolan. I have the right to be here.” She said nonchalantly, oblivious to what was going on and how I felt at
that moment.
“You should have called me first.”
She frowned and then smiled, before finally hugging me. “And spoil the surprise? where’s the fun in that?” She giggled.
I pushed her away from me and sighed. “We should go inside, it cold,” I muttered without much interest and headed back inside, l
