Chapter 13
“Ashley’s POV
“We’re here,” Xavier’s voice echoes softly, walking me up from a slight doze. I opened my eyes slowly and turned to look at
him.
He had a small smile on his face that seemed to say, “I told you so.”
I scoffed and then turned my head to look out the window and there it was, a huge building standing in front of us.
It was just as I remembered it to be, the towering stone walls that went into the sky and the thick iron gates.
Xavier drove through and seconds later, he was turning off the engine. We sat in the car, and neither of us was ready to come down from it yet. My eyes were fixed on the huge walls, and somehow it reminded me of the beginning.
“It still looks the same,” I said to myself in a low whisper, but it wasn’t just me
e in the car.
He looked at me with a Leitt smile on his lips. “Probably not on the outside, but things have changed, it’s definitely not the
me as it was five years ago.
I shrugged without too much of a reaction. My eyes were still stuck on the massive structure in front of us. “see.” I muttered as flashes from the last time I was here went through my mind.
I war with Nolan that night, and we had just gotten married a few months before. I thought things were going to be different, that we were going to grow in love together, but boy was I wrong
We didn’t talk for more than a minute that night, and I had been by myself for the majority of the occasion. It was only a few years ago that I realized that he had his eyes on Zoe that night, she was royalty, so she attended it, and now after many years, here I was, in totally different circumstances.
“Ashely?” Xavier’s voice pulled me out of the depths of my thoughts and back to reality. He was already out of the car and had the door opened for me and I hadn’t even noticed.
“You know he’s going to be here today right?” He asked softly. I took a deep breath and nodded. We weren’t here for Nolan’s sake, but it wasn’t Ideal to pass on an opportunity to show people that their day of reckoning was near.
“I know.” I responded in a hushed voice, and adjusted my dress
1 grabbed his hand and with his help, got out of the car.
“Thank you,” I said quietly, as I landed on my feet. He smiled and together we made our way to the entrance. But just then, I noticed someone approaching us. A man who was exquisitely dressed and had a smile on his face. He looked much older than us, but at the same time, he looked just as strong.
“Alpha Xavier.” he greeted, bowing his head slightly. “It’s always a pleasure to have you here. You’re by far the most consistent and that’s something that I have to say.”
Xavier smiled and nodded to his greeting. He still had the seriousness about him, but he looked a little at ease and welcoming to the man in front of us.
“It’s always good to see you, Aaron,” Xavier said.
Aaroni smiled and turned his head in my direction, I could see the confusion in his eyes as he exchanged looks between Xavier and me.
“I didn’t know you were married, Alpha.” He said, taking my hand and planting a kiss on it lightly.

Chapter 13
“Your royalness,” he said in a somewhat funny way. I had never heard that word before, and my best guess was that he just made it up.
Her name is Ashley, Xavier said quietly, before taking a small step forward. Signaling that our time outside was done.
“You’re welcome, ma’am,” Aaron said again with an even wider smile on his face as he let go of my hand.
“It seems we’re early.”
“No, no, you’re just right on time.” He replied, gesturing that we could go in.
Xavier nodded and then took my hand, wrapping his arms around mine and together, we walked into the building. I could hear the faint sound of music as we walked through the massive balls.
Xavier wasn’t too keen on rushing towards the main hall, and it was the same for me. We walked slowly, as though we were counting steps and I was beginning to notice the awkward gaze of people on us. I could also see them whisper, hiding their faces in their hands as they said what they said.
I still didn’t know how influential my brother was, and this was an opportunity to find out. Back at Goddess‘ heart, his word was final and it wouldn’t me as a surprise If he was one of the few that has the power to make decisions.
In a short while, we were inside the main hall, I could now see the clear faces of people. Some, I had the slightest idea of who
feel left out they were, and most of them I knew well. Xavier made sure to give me every bit of information so I wouldn’t and I couldn’t be more grateful
I turned my head, looking around the room if I was going to somehow spot Nolan, and I didn’t even know that I was beginning to look frantic and nervous
“Calm.” Xavier said softly as he looked down on me. He placed his hand on mine, patting it to put me at ease.
“We’re in control, and this is our game” He added with a confident look on his face.
“I’m alright,” I said to him, with a stubborn smile playing on my lips. I didn’t want him to think that I was nervous, even though I was. He has put so much into this occasion and I knew that he was expecting me to hold my ground.
I was going to use my hatred as fuel, I couldn’t be scared of seeing the one person that I wished all the terrible things on. He released his arm from mine and placed his hand on my back
“They think we’re married, might as well act that way” He said in low whisper. I turned my head to look at him and I could see that he was trying desperately not to laugh
