Chapter 26
“Xavier’s POV
I was back in the Sacred Moon pack, but this time it wasn’t because of a formal occasion, it was just a piece of the puzzle and probably one of the most important pieces.
I sat by myself inside a busy restaurant, one that had been picked by Zoe, she said she couldn’t afford to be spotted by anyone who knew her, most especially the media, and I didn’t have any problems with that.
I spotted her from where I sat as she walked in and I raised my hand so she could see me. She headed towards my direction without wasting any time and sat down. The majority of her face was covered by a scarf and she had glasses on.
“Hey.” She said softly as she sat down in front of me. I forced a smile and greeted her back.
“Hi,” I said briefly, not knowing or even having the intention of saying anything more than that. She turned her head sideways and for a moment, I thought she was checking if we were being watched, but then I noticed even through her shade she was looking for the waiter.
“They’ll be here soon, I already made the order,” I said to her softly. She turned her face towards me and smiled wryly.
“Take the scarf off,” I said to her softly after a while. She lifted her head up slowly and without any arguments she pulled it off but her shades were still on.
“And the glasses,” I added, getting a bit of pleasure from it. She froze and then shook her head.
“I can’t.” She whispered softly. She had always been confident about her features and always wanted people to keep staring at her pretty face, but today was different and my best guess was that she had been crying.
“Why?” I asked her in a low whisper. She paused and then sighed in frustration.
“I just ca-”
“You’ve been crying, haven’t you?” I cut in quietly, smiling at her. She closed her mouth and then smiled slightly. “That’s not why I’m here, Xavier.” She replied.
I wanted to go on, to keep having fun but I decided against it. It wasn’t fun anymore and I put in front of my mind all that she did to Ashley.
Just then, the waiter came to our table and placed my order on it. It wasn’t the first time that I would have dinner with Zoe, and I kinda knew what she would want, especially when she wasn’t feeling too good.
I looked at her face as she stared at the meal in front of her and could see she wanted to thank me and show excitement that I remembered something about her, but she was too sad for it.
“You should eat,” I whispered softly, before grabbing the fork in front of me. I took a few bites and a small sip from my glass before I noticed that she wasn’t eating.
“How bad is it?” I.asked her quietly.
“Really bad.”
I remained silent and instead of giving her a reply that could possibly cheer her up, I picked up my fork and resumed eating. I could tell that she was watching me, and even though my head wasn’t lifted, I could almost guess that she was crying. She was desperate and this was exactly what I wanted.
“I really need your help, Alpha Xavier.” She said in a low whisper and she was trying not to sound too desperate. I lifted my
and saw a few drops of tears on her face.

Chapter 26
I reached in and removed the glasses from her eyes.
“You should eat,” I said again, and this time I meant It. It was the perfect plan for her to be desperate, in 1 collected her crying in front of me. I had seen a lot of tears in the past years and all of it seemed to remind me of my sister
A few months after I found her, she didn’t stop crying. I struggled to get an explanation about what had exactly happe and after she explained it to me, I wanted to cry with her. However, I couldn’t, and all that emotion turned into the angeri now feel. I have a strong desire to retaliate against those who hurt her, and there was one sitting in front of me now
She managed to pick up the fork and began to over slowly, I brought out my phone and saw that I had a message from Ashley, it was a few hours to dinnertime and I never missed dinner.
“Do you even want to be here?” Zoe suddenly asked,
“What?” I asked her, lifting my head up from my phone.
“I’m not stupid, Alpha Xavier, and I know that you aren’t as well, between me and you, I’m closer to being called stupid” “What are you getting at, Zoe?” I asked softly, relieved that at least she was beginning to talk.
“I saw you the other night, and you announced to everyone that you’re married to my sister. well, my step–sister. You can’t possibly want to help me. I’m pretty sure she has fed you with all the history of our past and the hatred she has for me.”
“Ashely doesn’t hate you, Zoe.”
“Well, I don’t believe that.” She said firmly,
“Can we talk about why we’re really here, Zoe?” I asked, not wanting to talk about Ashley. It wasn’t hard to pretend that I was married to Ashley, I just didn’t want to talk about anything that would make me angry,
“Can you just help me with this one? I know I’m in a mess, but let me get my mind off it first.” She pleaded.
“By talking about my wife?” I asked dismissively.
“Tell me. How did you two meet?”
I sighed deeply and looked away from her. And immediately, my mind drifted to the night that I found Ashley and how terrible her condition was. That was how I first met her. I met my sister almost dead and she was part of those people who made it happen.
“There really isn’t any story to tell, Zoe,” I said calmly.
“Let’s not change the topic, I have somewhere to be. I only agreed to help because of how bad your situation is. But I can also change my mind.”
