Seated in the passenger seat, Daphne glanced at Dana’s aggrieved expression and then at Asher. “Did you scold her?” 

Asher replied, “I said a couple of things. Work’s been exhausting lately, and now I have to pick her up too. It’s frustrating.” 

With a gentle smile, Daphne said, “Dana, if you have any issues, just talk to me or your brother, alright? Stop running over to their place. You know Elara doesn’t like Asher. You’re just troubling him.” 

At this moment, Daphne’s voice was soft, completely unlike her usual cold demeanor. 

Dana looked at her, remembering all the things she had just said behind her back. 

In this situation, she knew Asher wouldn’t believe her. She sank into her seat quietly. 

“Alright, let’s head home,” Daphne said to Asher. 

Asher glanced at her. “What did Elara say to you just now?” 

Recalling how Elara had pulled her aside, Daphne gave a bitter smile.

“Trailblaze Group is already working with Mr. Walker’s team. I pulled every string I could just to get connected with Mrs. Smith. And now…” 

She sighed. “Forget it. If we lose the deal, so be it. In the end, you’re the one who’ll bear the burden anyway.”

Daphne responded, “It’s just a blind date. Who forces anyone into marriage these days? Since you’ve agreed, shall we proceed with tomorrow’s meeting?” 

Asher looked at Dana through the rearview mirror. “You don’t have to force yourself. I’ll handle the issues.” 

Dana’s heart swelled with a mix of guilt and determination as she gazed at him. “I’ll be fine.”

Daphne looked at Dana’s innocent face and found it laughable. 

They shared the same mother, yet while Asher had endured so much hardship, Dana had been shielded from life’s difficulties. 

Daphne recalled how Edith had taken Dana to Elara’s wedding but had excluded her, acting superior. 

Daphne mused inwardly, ‘When Dana marries into the Smith family, Edith won’t keep that smug attitude anymore. 

Felicity and Elara arrived at the restaurant that morning to discuss a film project. Felicity took charge of managing the cinematic adaptation of Elara’s novel. 

Having some free time, Elara decided to accompany Felicity on this outing. 

As they reached the entrance, they saw Dana and Daphne.
