Chapter 450 Who Took the Ring
Eliza shot to her feet almost instantly.

Nolan had just gotten back, and hardly anyone knew where he lived. So who could’ve gone to his place and taken the ring so quickly?
And barely anyone even knew about the ring.
Even if someone did know, there’s no way they could‘

Eliza said, “Don’t panic. Send your people to check the area–see if there’s any surveillance footage. Try to find out who did it.”
“I’ve already got people on it. Just sit tight and wait for my update,” Nolan replied.
Hearing that calmed Eliza down a little. She said, “Okay. Just be careful.”
She put her phone down.
When Halbert returned to his room, he saw Eliza’s door was wide open and she was sitting on the sofa, deep in thought.
“What, your man’s only been gone a day and you already miss him this much?”
Halbert’s words snapped Eliza back to reality.
She frowned. “Can you stop going after Nolan every chance you get?”
“Nope,” Halbert said bluntly. “Tristan might’ve accepted Nolan, but I haven’t. So do me a favor and don’t mention him in front of me again.”
“Nolan went back to Westbrook, but the ring was taken before he even got there. Was it you?”
Eliza had thought it over.
Only Halbert had the kind of reach in Westbrook to pull this off.
Halbert’s brow creased. “Me?”
“Who else? You’re the only one with people in Westbrook. You know where Nolan lives, and vou know about the ring. You don’t like him, so you had someone grab the ring ahead of time to make Tristan islike him- to ruin his image.”
It was the only explanation she could come up with.
Halbert let out a dry scoff. “Eliza, you think a bit too highly of yourself. Just because I don’t like the guy doesn’t mean I’d bother using tricks like that. You’ve got one hell of an imagination.”
“Well, I couldn’t think of any other explanation.”
“That’s because you’re slow.”
Halbert said, “Did it ever occur to you that maybe Nolan realized how important that ring is and lied to

you?”
“Nolan would never lie to me.”
“Oh, but I would?” Halbert’s tone grew sharp. “Wow, Eliza. What a great sister you are.”
With that, Halbert turned to head back to his room.
Eliza realized maybe she’d gone too far. She jumped up and chased after him.
“Halbert, that’s not what I meant! I was just joking. I didn’t really mean to accuse you. Please don’t be mad
“Move.”
His face had gone cold.
The look in his eyes alone was enough to make her back off.
Then–bam–Halbert slammed the door shut behind him.
Eliza stood at the doorway, looking frustrated.
She hadn’t meant to accuse him. It’s just–she really couldn’t think of anyone else.
When she turned around, she saw Christian standing at the far end of the hallway.
Clearly, he’d seen the whole thing but hadn’t stepped in.
Eliza felt a little embarrassed and walked up to him. “Christian, I…”
“No need to explain. I saw everything.”
Christian reached out and patted her head. “It’s not your fault. Halbert’s always had a bad temper. He loves saying the opposite of what he means. You’ll get used to it. Give him a bit–he’ll cool off and forget all about it.”
Eliza shook her head. “No, this time I really did go too far. Nolan went back to Westbrook and found the ring missing, so I jumped to conclusions. But as long as Halbert says it wasn’t him, I believe him.”
Christian hadn’t expected the ring to vanish either. He hesitated, then said, “I’ll ask Ronaldo to tap into his contacts in Westbrook and look into it. Don’t worry–we’ll get the ring back. And trust me, this isn’t -Halbert’s doing. If he knew Tristan wanted to see that ring, there’s no way he’d interfere. It’s just not in his
nature.”
Eliza nodded. “I know.”
“Alright. Go back to your room and wait for updates.”
“Okay.”
Eliza returned to her room.
But even after what Christian said, she still couldn’t shake the unease.
After all, I did falsely accuse Halbert.

That thought lingered. Eventually, she got out of bed and tiptoed to Halbert’s room.
It was already late.
She carefully cracked the door open a sliver.
Sure enough, the light inside was still on.
