After Dominic left the hospital room, I remained sitting in my bed, staring at the closed door. The silence felt deafening after all the chaos of the past few hours.
My mind kept racing with possibilities. What good news could there possibly be in this mess? Lily Lewis was an imposter, the real Lewis daughter was missing, and somehow Alexander was involved in this twisted
scheme.
A ridiculous thought suddenly crossed my mind, making my pregnant wolf stir uneasily within me. Could Dominic possibly think that I was the real Lewis family daughter?
I immediately shook my head, dismissing the idea as completely far–fetched. “That’s impossible,” I whispered to myself, my hand instinctively moving to my belly.
But then I remembered Dominic’s persistent insistence that my brother James and I weren’t truly siblings. His Alpha instincts had been telling him something was wrong with our family dynamics for weeks now.
The DNA test results that had been tampered with by Alexander’s bribed hospital staff. The way James reacted so violently to hearing my name, insisting he didn’t have a sister.
My head began to spin with all these interconnected pieces. Could there really be some connection between me and the Lewis family?

I stared at him in shock. “That’s… that’s unbelievable. Why would he do something so cruel?”
“Because he’s desperate,” Dominic replied, his silver–gray eyes flashing with disgust. “The Storm Pack’s business empire is crumbling, and he needs distractions from his failures.”
But then his expression softened slightly, and he reached out to take my hand. “However, there’s something
else. Something much more important.”
The way he said it made my pregnant wolf whimper with both anticipation and fear. “What is it?”
“Aria,” he said gently, his powerful hands squeezing mine reassuringly. “I think you might be the real Lewis family daughter.”
The words hit me like a physical blow. My breath caught in my throat, and I felt the world spinning around

“That’s impossible,” I whispered, though my voice lacked conviction.
“I’ve already arranged for a DNA test,” Dominic continued, his Alpha certainty evident in every word. “Samples
from both you and Dr. Nathan Lewis have been sent to the laboratory.”
My heart pounded so hard I thought it might burst from my chest. “How long until we know?”
“Eight hours,” he replied, glancing at his watch. “The results should be ready around seven or eight in the
morning.”
I stared at him, unable to process what he was telling me. “But my parents… Emily and her husband… they
loved me. They raised me.”
“I know,” Dominic said softly, his thumb stroking across my knuckles. “But that doesn’t mean they were your
biological parents.”
The implications were staggering. If I was really the Lewis family’s missing daughter, then everything!
thought I knew about my identity was a lie.
“What about James?” I asked weakly. “If I’m not his sister, then why did he always protect me?”
“Maybe because Emily asked him to,” Dominic suggested. “Maybe because he knew the truth and felt
responsible for keeping you safe.”
My wolf whimpered with confusion and distress. The foundations of my entire life felt like they were
crumbling beneath me.
“I need to think,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Of course,” Dominic replied, his protective instincts evident in his gentle tone. “Rest now. We’ll know the truth
soon enough.”
Sleep proved impossible. My mind raced with thoughts of my childhood, my parents, my brother, Alexander, and Dominic. Every memory felt suspect now, viewed through the lens of this potential revelation.
I replayed the past twenty–something years, searching for clues I might have missed. The way Emily Sometimes looked at me with such profound sadness. The way James seemed to carry some heavy burden.

“Understandable,” he said, his tone becoming more gentle. “Are you hungry? I brought some catmeal porridge. It’s supposed to be good for pregnant she–wolves.”
Before I could respond, the door burst open with explosive force. Dr. Nathan Lewis rushed in, his face flushed with excitement and his brown eyes bright with joy.
“Aria!” he called out, his voice carrying an emotion I had never heard from him before.
I had just emerged from the bathroom, having splashed cold water on my face to clear my head. His sudden appearance startled me, and I froze in the doorway.
Dr. Lewis moved toward me with open arms, clearly intending to embrace me. But Dominic was faster, his Alpha reflexes allowing him to step between us with fluid grace.
“She’s my mate,” Dominic said firmly, his powerful presence radiating protective authority. “Physical contact requires my permission.”
“Your mate?” Dr. Lewis laughed, his joy seemingly too great to be dampened by Dominic’s territorial behavior. “She’s my younger sister! My long–lost sister of twenty years!”
The words hit me like lightning. My knees felt weak, and I had to grip the bathroom doorframe to keep from collapsing.
“Is it true?” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Dr. Lewis’s face was radiant with happiness. “The DNA results came back with 100% certainty! You’re the Lewis family’s daughter, Aria. You’re my sister!”
His voice broke slightly with emotion. “I’m so sorry for all the suffering you’ve endured. If we had found you sooner…”
