Chapter 34
Ariel wasn’t feeling great.
Her condition had always been unstable, and she had pushed herself to the limit to prepare for this banquet. But everything got thrown off when Jayson showed up with Nancy.
Her body started to heat up. She pulled out some medicine from her bag and swallowed two pills without a second thought.
She tried to suppress the pain in her abdomen.
It felt like hours had passed before she noticed the second call from Chad.
“Chad?”
“Where are you?” Chad asked.
Ariel glanced at her sickly reflection in the mirror. “I’m outside. I’ll be right back.”
“We’re having a discussion here. Come over.”
“Okay, I’ll be there.”
She touched up her makeup quickly, making sure she looked presentable before stepping out.
Jonathan, as the main figure at this discussion, was naturally present.
When Ariel arrived, she saw Jayson and Nancy chatting happily with Jonathan.
She moved toward Chad, who spotted an opening and led her forward.
Finally, Ariel had the chance to speak with Jonathan. Chad whispered something in Jonathan’s ear.
Jonathan’s expression immediately shifted as he looked at Ariel. “You’re…”
However, due to the need for confidentiality, he recovered quickly and couldn’t help but remark, “No wonder Mr. Hockney holds you in such high regard, Ms. Walker. I was blind to it.”
Ariel smiled faintly. “It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. Pearce.”
As Ariel and Jonathan conversed happily, Jayson and the others took notice.
Nancy glanced over several times, puzzled. What could Ariel possibly be talking to Jonathan about?
“She’s acting like she knows what she’s talking about.” Matt chuckled and glanced at Nancy. “She doesn’t understand the policies, the technology, or the core of Faye Tech, yet she’s still trying to have a conversation with Mr. Pearce?“!
Nancy just smiled faintly, not commenting.
She understood what Matt was trying to say.
He was suggesting that Ariel was mimicking her. Ariel saw her talking to Jonathan, so she was trying to do the same as well.
But she didn’t care about Ariel. In a low voice, she said to Jayson, “It’s a pity Mr. Carlos didn’t make it today.”

Jayson smiled faintly. “If you want to meet him, there will be a chance.”
Understanding his hint, Nancy smiled sweetly.
Meanwhile, Perry felt something was off. He watched Ariel closely and then turned to Jayson. “Have you noticed something strange with Ariel lately?”
Jayson absently caressed his glass as he thought back to recent oddities.
Ariel hadn’t been coming home much; she stopped cooking for him; she didn’t call or text as often anymore.
But this kind of behavior wouldn’t last.
there was always someone who tolerated it.

“Does it matter?” he asked indifferently.
Perry was taken aback and said nothing more.
Meanwhile, the staff began presenting introductions to the main technology projects of each company.
Among them was Johnstone Group’s.
Jonathan and Ariel had been chattin your brother, right?”
Ariel looked up at the person. “Yes.”
quietly. Suddenly, someone asked her, “Ms. Walker, Mr. Lucas Sanderson is
“That explains it. I heard Mr. Sanderson is dating the Johnstone family’s daughter. Mr. Johnstone even entrusted Mr. Sanderson with the company’s major operations. He’s being treated like a future son–in–law. Does this mean we’ll be hearing wedding bells for Mr. Sanderson soon?”
Ariel didn’t know what to answer. Lucas wasn’t the same anymore. He didn’t share everything with her, and she had to hear things from others.
She shook her head. “I–I’m not sure.”
“You don’t know about your brother? Or are you just covering for him, Ms. Walker?” the person teased.
Ariel, uncomfortable talking about Lucas, quickly brushed it off.
She instinctively rubbed her aching abdomen and leaned in to Chad. “I’m going to the restroom.”
Noticing her pale face, Chad asked in concern, “Are you okay?”
Ariel forced back her discomfort and replied calmly, “I’m fine.”
She pulled her chair back and started to leave.
The ringing in her ears was deafening. Her fever made it hard for her to focus, and her legs felt heavy with each step she took.
As she passed by a table, her legs gave way. She stumbled, knocking over a teapot.

A pair of strong arms caught her just in time.
Following that, a chorus of shocked gasps followed.
