Chapter 94
The nursing facility was right behind the department she was in. It was quite near.
When Ariel arrived, she paid a lump sum of 200 thousand dollars.
After she signed the bill, the nurse asked her, “Ms. Walker, would you be okay if we relocate Mr. Walker to another room?”
Ariel was stunned. “What do you mean?”
The nurse explained, “Here’s what happened. Someone has expressed their interest in your uncle’s current room. They’d like to discuss this matter with you because they want to use that room. In return, they’ll be happy to meet all of your requests.”
It was a private nursing facility. They would usually encourage negotiation if any requests were made.
Ariel frowned. “Please tell them we refuse to relocate.”
Over the years, when Leonard had been sick, they’d spent a great sum on his treatment. Katie barely gained any income from her hotel due to its poor management. Ariel had always been the one paying the fees. She used up almost all of the income she earned from working as a PR on his treatment.
The room she chose for Leonard wasn’t the best, but it had the best natural lighting, ventilation, and view. Leonard had gotten used to the room too. There was no way they would relocate to another room.
The nurse seemed troubled. She was about to say something when her gaze fell on someone behind Ariel. She called out, “Mr. Larkin, this lady here is the family of the patient in Room 206. Could the two of you perhaps talk it out?”
Ariel’s heart almost stopped. She turned around, looking surprised.
Nancy was holding onto Sarah and wasn’t surprised to see Ariel. Beside them was Jayson, elegant and aloof as always. His blue eyes were fixed on her, while his face was expressionless.
However, Ariel’s heart sank. She had a bad feeling.
Nancy spoke first. She told Sarah, “Mom, you should head inside first.”
Sarah nodded. Her gaze swept across Ariel. Before she went in, she said, “So, it’s you. Well, Jayson and Nancy will talk to you.”
Ariel’s expression turned grim.
The way Sarah put it, it was as though Jayson and Nancy were already a couple. They weren’t here to discuss; it was more like an order!
Was she trying to imply they were a family and would unite against someone who wasn’t one of them?
Ariel cast Jayson a mocking look.
She had her first session of radiation therapy that day. She moved around the huge hospital in her weak condition, enduring her illness, without anyone to accompany her.
But was that the only time she had to put up with everything alone?

Meanwhile, Jayson, her husband of three years, was at the same hospital keeping Nancy’s family company!
And now, they wanted Leonard’s room too?
“My mom likes the black locust tree outside that room. Can you get your uncle to give it up?” Nancy spoke gently, but her tone made it clear she wasn’t negotiating.
She was scornful of having to communicate with Ariel, yet she had to lower herself.
If it weren’t for Sarah admiring that tree that much, wanting to see it bloom in the spring, Nancy wouldn’t have had to interact with Ariel.
Ariel smiled, her gaze trained on Jayson. “We’re not changing rooms.”
Why would Sarah insist on having Leonard’s room, of all rooms? Ariel didn’t believe it was a coincidence.
Sarah and Nancy couldn’t get their way with the house last time. They must’ve borne a grudge against her.
And now, after returning to the country for treatment, Sarah found another opportunity and was surely trying to make life difficult for the Walker family on purpose!
Nancy frowned. This was between her and Ariel, so Ariel should just speak to her. Why was Ariel looking at Jayson?
She didn’t like the thought of Ariel and Jayson interacting with each other.
Jayson turned toward Nancy. In a calm tone, he said, “Go keep your mom company.”
Evidently, he had something to say to Ariel.
Nancy hesitated, a flicker of reluctance crossing her eyes. However, she knew Jayson didn’t have feelings for Ariel. There was no need for her to worry.
“Alright. When you’re done, let’s go for lunch.” Nancy cast Ariel one last glance before returning to Sarah’s room with her head held high.
Jayson then turned his calm gaze on Ariel. It was then he realized her complexion was pale. She was also holding a bag of medicine.
His gaze fell on that bag momentarily. Raising an eyebrow, he said, “Name your price.”
