Chapter 97
Ariel’s gaze flickered, and she unknowingly tightened her grip on her utensils.
Renee took in her reaction in that fleeting moment, and her grin broadened. She shoved her phone nearer to Jayson, demanding a response. “Jayson, do you like it or not?”
Jayson’s cold gaze fell on the screen. The calmness on his face was impeccable. He cast Renee a warning glare.
Intimidated, Renee withdrew her hand. She knew the relationship between Jayson and Nancy was supposed to be a secret for now, but she wanted to see how Ariel would react. That was why she did it. She never wanted to anger Jayson.
“What’s wrong?” Betty noticed the atmosphere was tense and looked up from her food.
“It’s nothing, Grandma.” Renee leaned closer to her gleefully. She continued, “I was just showing Jayson something he’d be very interested in.”
Betty didn’t know what they were talking about. She patted Renee’s head and stopped probing.
Ariel kept her head hung low, her expression as calm as quiet waters.
She was so emotionally numb that it was as though she were a mere bystander, witnessing the unfurling of a romance that many admired.
After finishing his food, Jayson placed his utensils back down and went upstairs.
Betty was miffed. “He’s gone before you know it. Ari, please go get him.”
Ariel was trying to come up with an excuse to leave, but since Betty was urging her to get Jayson, she had to put that aside for now. Going upstairs, she knocked on Jayson’s room door.
No one answered.
She opened the door and entered the room, just in time to see Jayson emerging from the bathroom.
He had just taken a shower, and his hair was dripping wet. He had changed into loungewear, which highlighted his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and massive pectorals.
He was talking on the phone to someone.
Ariel paused in her steps as she started having thoughts she shouldn’t have.
Renee showed Jayson a sexy photo of Nancy, and Jayson came upstairs right away to take a shower. And now, he was even chatting with someone. If it were Nancy, then she might’ve sent him more alluring photos.
Well, then the reason why Jayson was taking a shower at that moment was truly suggestive.
“What are you thinking about?” Jayson suddenly walked over to her, his gaze sharp.
Ariel snapped back to her senses. As he walked toward her, his loose–fitting black pants swayed with his movements.
She quickly averted her gaze. “Grandma is calling for you.”
Taking in her calm expression, Jayson stopped asking what she was thinking anymore. He walked past her and

headed downstairs.
As Ariel followed him down, she realized there was an elderly man with grayish–white hair in the living room. He wore a gray tunic and appeared kind.
Betty beckoned to them. “Ari, Jayson, this is Mr. Albert Ward. He’s a renowned doctor in alternative medicine. I specially called him in to examine your body conditions and to help both of you to achieve optimum health.”
Ariel instantly tensed up.
She knew the alternative doctor Betty had enlisted would most surely be someone with outstanding skills. It wasn’t hard to guess what she was thinking–she wanted Albert to examine her and Jayson to see if anything was wrong with them and if it would affect their fertility.
However, no matter what intentions Betty might have in mind, Albert would definitely discover Ariel’s illness if he examined her.
Jayson was pretty calm in comparison.
Betty had been planning to do this for a while now. When she told them to go to the hospital for a body checkup, neither of them was willing to obey. Since that was the case, she might as well invite Albert to their manor for the examination.
Regardless of the presence of a health condition, Albert could still help them achieve optimum health either way.
On one hand, it was for the sake of their fertility. On the other hand, she thought Ariel had been losing too much weight recently and was worried something might be wrong.
“Come on! Jayson, you go first!” Betty pushed Jayson toward Albert without allowing him the chance to refuse.
Jayson cast her a glance as he knew what she meant. “Ariel can tell you whether or not I’m ‘healthy.“”
Ariel froze. Caught off guard by Jayson’s words, Ariel felt both lost and deeply uncomfortable.
However, there was no denying that Jayson was indeed in great condition, especially when it came to intimate activities. Even though they had no feelings for each other, he could always satisfy her.
“You brat! Could you please watch what you’re saying?” Betty felt shy in his stead as she slapped his back heavily. “Sit properly!”

Jayson stop moving.
Albert checked his pulse. After some time, he smiled and said, “He’s in good health, and his kidneys are full of vigor. He’s healthy in all senses.”
