Chapter 132
Ariel walked to the hospital’s entrance and sat down on the stone steps to rest.
The expert Ewan had mentioned had no set date for his return. And if he really was a renowned expert, getting an appointment with him would be a battle.
If she could find some way to contact him directly, maybe she could buy Leonard more time.
“Ms. Walker?”
Ariel looked up at the voice.
When Perry walked over, he took a quick look at Ariel and noticed her face still looked pale and worn. It reminded him of the last time he had brought her to the hospital.
“You’re not feeling well again?” he asked.
Ariel seemed momentarily distracted, then shook her head. “No.”
Perhaps realizing that her reply sounded too curt, she asked, “What are you here for?”
Perry held up a pharmacy bag. “I come by regularly to pick up Freya’s inhaler.”
That made sense. Ariel recalled that Freya suffered from asthma–her health had never been great. Perry, at least, was a good brother. He was always meticulous when it came to Freya.
Ariel and Perry didn’t have much of a connection. And in the past, their interactions were far from friendly, so she didn’t really have much to say to him.
The silence between them was awkward.
Perry clearly felt it too. He asked, “What about you?”
“I spoke with my uncle’s doctor about treatment plans,” Ariel replied politely.
When Perry saw Ariel earlier, he sensed she was weighed down by something serious. After hesitating for a moment, he finally asked, “Are you facing some kind of trouble? Do you need any help from me?”
Ariel looked at him, unsure what to make of it. Given how Perry used to treat her, his offer caught her off guard.
“It’s nothing. I’m just trying to find a specialist for my uncle.”
“What’s his diagnosis?”
“Malignant tumor.”
Ariel lowered her gaze, feeling a bit unsettled. But given the situation, she couldn’t afford to break down now.
Perry didn’t know how to comfort her. He paused, deep in thought.
Then, looking her straight in the eye, he said, “I know an expert. If you don’t mind, I can send you his contact info.
Ariel looked at him with a hint of surprise. Her eyes reflected a flicker of doubt.
Perry noticed the distrust. Pressing his lips together, he pulled out his phone and tapped a few times. Ariel’s

phone vibrated. He said, “This is a friend of mine who’s been studying abroad and has become an expert in this field. Even if it’s not an exact match, he has access to the best medical resources.”
Ariel was genuinely surprised.
Perry had sent her a contact number on WhatsApp.
“Why are you helping me?” she asked without thinking.
After all, Perry disliked her. He wasn’t like Matt, who would openly mock her from time to time, but Perry had always looked down on her and mostly just ignored her.
That question left Perry speechless.
His eyes flickered, then he finally said, “No reason. Just trying to help.”
Although Ariel couldn’t quite understand his intentions, this was indeed a way out for her. As a top heir from a wealthy family, Perry naturally had valuable connections at his disposal.
She exhaled and genuinely said, “Thank you.”
“It’s nothing.” He could still feel her distance and didn’t blame her. After all, he had been pretty terrible to her before.
“Where are you heading? I can drive you.” Perry checked the time and made the offer.
“No, it’s fine. I don’t want to trouble you.”
But Perry looked straight at her. “You’re probably heading to Faye Tech, right? I’m going the same way. It’s no trouble at all.”
Ariel hesitated. Her car was out for maintenance with Janice, so she’d taken a cab today. And if she went outside now to catch another, she’d probably have to wait a while.
Besides, Perry had just done her a huge favor. Turning him down now would feel ungrateful.
After thinking it over, she nodded. “Okay. Thank you.”
Perry gave a slight smile.
The drive back to Faye Technologies took around 20 minutes.
Ariel hadn’t slept well. Her pain last night had kept her up for hours. Once in the car, she leaned against the window and closed her eyes to rest.
Clearly, she wasn’t in the mood for small talk.
Perry glanced at her, then quietly adjusted the air conditioning to a comfortable level.
When they arrived at Faye Technologies, Ariel opened her eyes right on time. Perry had already stepped out and opened the door for her.
She didn’t think anything of it. In high society, proper etiquette was drilled in from childhood. This was nothing unusual.

“Thank you,” she said as she grabbed her bag and got out.
Maybe because she was already feeling unwell, the moment her foot touched the ground, a sudden sharp pain twisted in her lower abdomen, Ariel’s face went pale, and her legs buckled.
Quick as a flash, Perry reacted faster than his brain could process and caught Ariel by the waist.
Even through her thick cashmere coat, he could feel the warmth and softness of her narrow waist. His body froze for a split second.
He leaned down, ready to ask if she was alright, when heavy footsteps thundered up behind them.
A cold, sharp voice rang out, “Who do you think you’re touching?”
Perry turned around, only to be met with a fierce punch straight to the corner of his mouth, forcing him to step back several paces.
