Chapter 173
Jayson held the envelope in his hands. He checked the shipping label for the time this envelope was mailed.
It was actually mailed two months ago.
As he held the envelope and turned around, Jayson accidentally shook it. He could hear the sound of something small rolling around inside.
It seemed like something else was also stored inside the envelope.
Jayson dropped his gaze. He was considering giving Ariel a call.
Suddenly, the door to his office was flung open. Nancy, whose eyes were red and teary, rushed into the room. ” Jayson, can you come with me to the hospital? My mom slipped into a coma…”
Jayson’s expression hardened. He subconsciously tightened his grip on the envelope. “Let’s go.”
Nancy hurried out of his office. Jayson looked down at the envelope for a moment. Then, he swiftly decided to bring it along.
Colton ran into Jayson and Nancy just as they were about to head downstairs. Jayson instructed frigidly, “Bring the car over. We’re going to the hospital.

Colton spotted the envelope in Jayson’s hand. It looked oddly familiar to him.
“Understood.”
As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Nancy quickly headed upstairs.
Jayson watched as she hurried off. Then, he directed his gaze to Colton and passed the envelope to him.
“Take this and all the items in my office’s cupboard to the marital home. Tell Georgia to put them in my study. I’ll stop by there tomorrow.”
Colton was stumped and confused about why Jayson was suddenly paying attention to these things. Still, he responded dutifully, “Understood, Mr. Larkin.”
As he headed upstairs, Jayson pulled out his phone and glanced at what was shown on the screen. He halted briefly. Then, he put his phone away and continued walking expressionlessly.
Ariel slept on the couch that night. However, she did not get much rest as she kept drifting in and out of sleep the entire night.
For some reason, she felt this sense of unease in her.
Ariel stayed in the room all by herself for an entire night. Frankly, she had expected something like this to happen.
Even if Jayson did not receive the phone call, Ariel reckoned there was no way he would spend the night here just to keep up the act.
Ariel took some time to clear her head. She looked at her phone. Jayson did not reply to her message, and she was not sure whether he had seen it.

Perhaps Jayson was not worried at all about Ariel’s proposition to divide their assets.
Eventually, Ariel pushed herself up from the couch. Her body was no longer racked with pain. She went to the bathroom to wash herself.
Just as she was leaving the hotel, a message from the hospital popped up on the screen of her phone.
It was a message regarding Leonard’s liver transplant operation. Ariel was asked to drop by the hospital to complete some relevant procedures.
Ariel felt her eyes grow hot. There was finally some good, exciting news. She wasted no time as she headed to the hospital right away.
At the top and most well–known private hospital in Eldoria, their lobby was absolutely crowded at this hour.
Ariel had not even eaten breakfast yet. She could not wait to find out and confirm about the date for Leonard’s transplant operation. She found the person–in–charge and informed her about the message she received.
The lady looked at her dubiously. “Are you sure that they’ve informed you the patient’s been arranged to go for the operation by the end of this month?”
Ariel’s expression hardened. “Yes. The details were stated clearly in the message. Is something the matter?”
“I’m sorry. I’m afraid there’s been a mistake. Mr. Leonard Walker’s operation has been postponed for another week. Another patient is scheduled to undergo the operation two weeks from now.”
Ariel’s heart missed a beat. “That’s impossible. You can have a look at the message I’ve received.”
Ariel was about to take out her phone.
Suddenly, someone who looked like the lady’s supervisor rushed over and pulled the nurse aside. She had an awkward expression on her face.
“I’m sorry, but what she said is true. Currently, Mr. Leonard Walker isn’t at the top of the waiting list. I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a bit longer for his turn.”
Ariel had previously done public relations work and understood how society worked well. At this point, it was obvious that something very wrong had happened to change the original arrangements.
They were at a private hospital. With money or power, anything could be arranged, including cutting queues!
Ariel’s face darkened. She asked flatly, “Who’s the other person?”
“I’m sorry. That information is considered private and confidential. I’m afraid I can’t tell you that.”
Ariel’s ears were ringing. Her mind raced.
Leonard had been waiting a long time for the opportunity to undergo the liver transplant operation. They had joined the waiting list and waited patiently. Yet, a problem like this arose when Leonard was already this close to having the operation.
The later they performed the operation on the patient, the more challenging it would be for the patient. It would add a lot of risks and uncertainties to the operation’s success rate and the possibility of the patient suffering complications afterward.

Ariel simply couldn’t allow someone else to abscond with the precious spot that was, by rights, Leonard’s. She tried to look for a doctor.
At that very moment, she spotted two people who had also stopped by to take care of the necessary procedures. In the distance, it was Nancy and Jayson.
