Liam didn’t reply to his message this time. He had no interest in sharing any comments on such a strange and random topic.
Ariel was completely oblivious to the opinions Zach had formed of her.
She was in a rather cheery mood. Tom and his team from Nexura Solutions had swiftly prepared most of the project’s finer details, and communication between the two teams had been smooth.
They should be able to complete the first round of data testing within the estimated time.
Ariel went to the hospital during her lunch break.
Once they had secured the liver donor for Leonard’s transplant operation, the hospital would soon set the time and date for the operation accordingly.
Ariel tried asking the hospital staff again if they had any news about Fergus, but the people there told her that he still hadn’t stopped by their hospital. That gave Ariel quite a headache.
It would be best if she could get the most competent doctor she could find to operate on Leonard. Unfortunately, Ariel had run out of ways to reach the expert.
She couldn’t help but realize how important it was to have connections when seeking treatment at the hospital.
Ariel visited Leonard and had lunch with him.
Howard had advised Ariel to go for regular checkups to monitor her cancer’s primary site and find out how well the radiation therapy was working on her body.
It would take some time to get the results after the medical examination was done. So, Ariel sat and waited in the waiting area.
She had gone for radiation therapy twice. It would be great if the treatment were effective in suppressing the cancer’s growth. However, if the tumor was still growing or spreading.

She believed that anyone would need company, especially when the person had fallen sick.

If no one were there with her, Freya would feel really sad and lonely. Although Ariel was a few years older than Freya, she was nevertheless a woman who might be feeling scared and helpless too.
Freya could not help feeling bad for Ariel when she saw the latter was there all by herself.
“Didn’t you say that Ms. Walker is married? Why isn’t her husband here to keep her company?” Freya asked curiously.

Ariel paused momentarily when she saw Freya, whose eyes were filled with concern, and Perry coming toward her. She responded, “I’m fine. It’s nothing serious. Did you come here to collect your medication?”
Freya shook her head. “I visit the hospital regularly for physiotherapy. I have the entire day off today. Let me stay here and keep you company, Ms. Walker.”
Ariel froze for a split second. Lately, she had been making these hospital visits alone despite her sick, weakened state. She never had anyone with her.
“Thank you for the offer, but it’s fine.” Ariel smiled at Freya. Her mood lifted slightly.
Perry stared at her. He said after a moment’s consideration, “Don’t worry about it. She has nothing better to do anyway.”
Ariel hesitated for a bit. In the end, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse Freya’s kind offer. While Freya happily chatted with Ariel, Perry remained silent. It was as if he wasn’t even there.
As soon as she received the medical report and prescriptions, Ariel put all those things in her bag Perry finally spotted his chance to initiate the conversation. “Have you settled everything for your uncle’s operation?”
Ariel had a calm look in her eyes. “We’re still looking for the doctor.”
Perry paused thoughtfully before saying, “The doctor I told you about said that he might be able to adjust his schedule. I’ll try talking to him again and see if I can arrange for you two to meet.”
Ariel flinched. She glanced at Perry, looking slightly worried. “Wouldn’t it be too much trouble for you?” She and Perry weren’t that close to begin with. Ariel’s impression of him used to be quite unfavorable as well. She even found it rather bewildering when Perry previously shared the doctor’s WhatsApp contact with her.
On the contrary, Perry appeared calm and collected. “Freya says that you are her friend. She’ll be very happy to be able to help you.”
Freya nodded tactfully.
