Betty didn’t notice anything strange from Ariel’s calm, steady voice since the latter sounded very much like her
usual self.
She expressed her concerns. “I was thinking you and Jayson could stay here at Larkin Manor. Have you settled down at your new place, then? Should I send some of our hipers over?”
Jayson owned quite a number of properties. The couple could just pick a location that suited their needs the most. Betty was offering to send help over to clean up the place for them.
Still, their new place would probably be empty and desolate since Ariel and Jayson were often busy with work. Ariel replied in a gentle voice, “It’s alright, Grandma We’ve taken care of pretty much everything.”
“That’s great,” Betty responded. Then, she asked, “Why did you guys suddenly decide to do such a huge renovation now, though?”
They hadn’t had any major issues with the house previously. Moreover, it had only been three years since it was completed. Betty could still vividly remember how much time and effort Ariel had put into getting the house ready
then.
Ariel dropped her gaze and said flatly, “Perhaps it was to clear out everything that we didn’t like previously so that we could start anew.”
What Jayson was trying to remove weren’t the things found inside the house. Instead, he was trying to erase three years of unhappy marriage to Ariel and act as though she never existed.
Betty failed to pick up on the underlying meaning behind those words. She thought that Ariel was saying she and Jayson had decided to work toward building a happy life together. Her mood improved instantly.
“I’m glad to hear that. Well, I’ll leave it to you two to handle those matters then. You can always drop by home for dinner when you’re free. Don’t overwork yourself.”
“I know. You need to take good care of yourself too, Grandma.” Ariel’s voice was soft and soothing.
After she hung up, Ariel stared at the date she had marked on the calendar and lightly tapped her pen on that spot.
Ariel recalled what she did in the past.
When they were renovating the marital home, Ariel carefully selected each item, be it a vase or a tablecloth. She sometimes visited different malls to look for the item she truly liked.
Bit by bit, Ariel filled up the house with various things.
When she was staying with the Sandersons, Ariel felt like an outsider even though she was living with Morgan, her biological father.
Perhaps it was because she never felt a sense of belonging while living with the Sandersons. Ariel deeply cherished their marriage. She even did her best to protect it. Sadly, all the hopes and expectations she had a few
back had slowly diminished due to the constant, silent neglect.
years
Ariel put down her pen. She did a mental calculation.
It would happen soon. She just had to hold out for another 12 days, and the cooling–off period would be over.
Ariel didn’t dwell on the matter for too long. She turned on her computer since she needed to look at the subsequent plans for the project.

Just then, Chad knocked on the door and entered Ariel’s office. He placed a small plece of cake, which was contained inside a box, on the desk
He began, “My old man’s joint research project is about to art soon. They’ll be traveling to Sorenta for learning purposes and stay there for three days. All the companies involved are allowed to send one or two technical staff members to join the trip. You and are going together.”
Ariel beamed as she looked at the cake. “When are we leaving?”
“Tomorrow afternoon.”
Ariel nodded. “Alright.”
Chad took his phone out to check for the flights available.
Il book the flight tickets now, and I’ll have Jan take
over liaising with the Nexura Solutions team for the project temporarily.
After he was done booking the tickets, Chad headed for the door while he opened his WhatsApp.
Suddenly, he came to a halt.
A small frown creased his forehead. He glanced over his shoulder at Ariel. “Crescent Point is where you and your ex -husband’s marital home is located, right?”
Ariel lifted her gaze. “What’s wrong?”
Chad passed his phone to Ariel. “Your ex is really doing a lot for Nancy now.”
Ariel could see a post shared by Matt displayed on the screen. He had taken a photo of their marital home from
afar. In the right corner of the photo, a woman could be seen with her back to the camera as she gazed at the house.
