Evelyn got the impression that Ariel was implying she was hardly doing enough as Jayson’s mother. Therefore, Evelyn had no right to make those requests of her.
However, she quickly dismissed those thoughts. There was no way Ariel would dare make such implications.
Ariel cared not whether Evelyn understood her words. After giving a slight nod, she turned around and walked off.
Evelyn furrowed her brows as she stared at Ariel’s receding figure.
In the past, she would have been very satisfied with how Ariel had tactfully acted as if they hardly knew each other. Strangely, she felt rather offended today.
The next day, Ariel went to the hospital to meet the friend Liam had introduced her to. His name was Isaac Coleman. The man was in his 30s.
Isaac, who was also a doctor, came back from abroad along with Liam. He had a lot of photos of him and Liam working to provide medical assistance in various places across the world on display in his office.
Isaac was offered a high salary to take up his current position.
After learning more about Leonard’s condition, Isaac said, “We can arrange the date and time for the operation. Liam has reminded me of what I should take extra notice of Don’t worry. I’ll do my best to help Mr. Walker.”
Ariel nodded in acknowledgment. At the same time, her gaze drifted toward a photo of Isaac and Liam. A tiny word was written beside Liam.
Ariel couldn’t discern the letters at first.
Isaac noticed how she was looking at the photo intently. He grinned. “It’s Fergus. People also call him by that name.”
Ariel had a look of bewilderment on her face as she lifted her head.
“Liam Spencer is that expert, Fergus?” She pondered.
She had gone through a lot of trouble to look for Fergus previously. After all this time, Ariel finally found out that Liam was actually Fergus.
She left the hospital and headed into the office soon afterward. Ariel was lost in thought.
A flicker of hope rose within her now that she had learned that Liam was Fergus. Even if Liam couldn’t make time to be in full charge of Leonard’s operation and treatment, Ariel wondered if he would consider working together with Isaac to come up with the treatment plan.
Ariel was completely absorbed in her thoughts as she went up to her floor. Suddenly, Janice dragged Ariel into her office and handed her an invitation card with gold embossed lettering.
“Ari… This is for you.” Janice had an awkward look on her face.
Ariel looked down and saw that it was an invitation to Lucas and Wendy’s engagement party.
Janice frowned and said, “Jadeon Tech’s staff delivered the invitation cards in person. Chad and I got one each too. They’re holding the engagement party this Friday.
“Back when we attended the charity auction, didn’t Lucas say that he would be inviting all the guests from that

night to their engagement party?”
Janice was also reminded of how Jayson and Nancy had stolen the limelight that night. The Johnstone family made a huge donation in the pair’s names to help build several schools for young, underprivileged students.
“Lucas‘ secretary relayed his message when he came by to deliver the invitation cards. Lucas said that he didn’t invite anyone from the Sanderson family. If you don’t show up that day, he’ll come over to Faye Tech himself to bring you there.
“Are you going to attend the engagement party?” Janice was somewhat aware of Lucas‘ temperament.
He really might do something like that. As for how he would “bring” Ariel to the venue, there was a good chance things would get ugly in the process.
“You’re saying that those who have attended the charity auction may be attending the engagement party too?” Ariel’s face showed no emotion as she asked the question.
Janice nodded. “I think so. We’ve received the invitation. Others must have gotten them too. People would rarely refuse these opportunities to expand their connections.”
Ariel tapped her chin. She put the invitation card on her desk, looking unperturbed.
“I’m going.”
She would wish the couple well now that Lucas and Wendy were getting engaged. Regardless of who Lucas chose to be with, it would not affect Ariel.
The reason she had decided to attend the engagement party was because Liam had attended the charity auction that time. Moreover, the Johnstone family and the Spencer family had business relations. There was a chance Liam might be there.
Now that Ariel knew that Liam was Fergus, she wanted to try and talk to him in a more natural setting first. Then, she might bring up the matter regarding the possibility of him working with Isaac on Leonard’s case.
Otherwise, it might seem a bit rude if she were to go looking for Liam and make that request to him this instant.
Lucas‘ invitation to the engagement party provided the perfect opportunity for her to do so.
Soon enough, it was Friday.
Lucas‘ engagement party was far from being a conventional one. Instead, it was more like a party held for young people to chill and relax.
An entire cruise ship was chartered for the occasion. Various drinks were prepared for the guests. People were dancing to the upbeat music.
The weather was getting warmer. When Ariel and the others got there, they could see other guests boarding the ship.
Janice was amazed by the sight before her.
“They say it’s an engagement party. Frankly, it looks a lot more like a party for young people to mingle and make friends. I’ve only been walking for a short while, and I’ve already fallen for eight hot guys. I can’t even get a day off if I’m seeing them separately on different days in a week.”
Ariel was rendered speechless. Meanwhile, Chad walked a little further away from Janice, looking slightly repulsed.
Ariel shook her head and chuckled.
