Chapter 302
Liam took only two seconds to process when he saw Ariel before nodding.
Without hesitation, Ariel swung open the car door.
Liam slipped inside with the quick, precise movements of someone trained.

Ariel caught the detail but didn’t react. Her gaze briefly flicked to the rearview mirror before shifting gears and flooring the accelerator.
After countless visits to the hospital over the past two years, she knew the nearby roads like the back of her hand. She maneuvered sharply and sped away with ease.
Even Liam glanced sideways, impressed by her driving skills.
Her delicate face showed almost no expression. Even with a car chasing from behind, she stayed remarkably calm.
Watching the road carefully, she followed the flow of traffic and quickly lost the pursuer.
Soon, Ariel was in a bustling shopping district, which was full of people and cars.
“Sorry for the trouble.” Liam glanced behind them and then at Ariel.
She shook her head, then asked, “What was that all about?”
The car chasing Liam had a chilling, ruthless edge. It was clear that they had no friendly intentions.
Liam unbuckled his seatbelt. His calm expression betrayed nothing. “They probably hold a grudge against me.”
Probably?
Ariel sensed he didn’t want to say more, and she wasn’t going to press.
“Weren’t you afraid?” Liam looked surprised.
Ariel, gentle as she appeared, had shown no sign of panic.
“I was,” she admitted honestly.
Liam raised an eyebrow barely perceptibly. “Then why help me?”
Ariel turned to him and replied, “I needed a favor. I wanted to ask if you could carve out some time to help with a treatment plan for my uncle.”
Her blunt honesty caught Liam off guard. He studied her for a moment, then slowly smiled.
After a few seconds, he figured out what Ariel was getting at. “You’ve been meaning to tell me this since we last met, haven’t you?”
Ariel didn’t deny it.
That was the real reason she stepped in today. She wouldn’t do favors without strings attached.
Liam opened the car door and got out. He looked at her composed expression and nodded. “Okay, no problem.”
Through this, he could tell Ariel was someone with good judgment. She had been wanting to ask for a while but hadn’t rushed it.
Now that he was returning a favor, it felt right, and he wouldn’t make things difficult for her.

Ariel felt a wave of relief.
Since Liam was Fergus, even the sinallest difference in trement could drastically affect the outcome. She had to give it a shot for the sake of a higher chance of recovery.
“Thank you,” Ariel said after getting the answer she wanted. “Will you be okay getting back on your own?”
Liam nodded. “Someone’s picking me up.”
She gave a slight nod. “Alright. See you.”
Looking at her, he took a small step back. “See you.”
Ariel calmly looked away and didn’t linger. She turned the car and drove off.
Not long after Ariel left, another car pulled up. Liam got in smoothly.
Frowning, Zach looked at him. “Are those people from overseas?”
Liam checked his phone. “Probably.”
Zach’s expression darkened.
He knew Liam had spent years with Doctors Without Borders in war zones, helping people regardless of race or status. That kind of work inevitably stepped on some powerful toes.
Retaliation was nothing new, but it had gotten reckless now.
“Don’t worry. The relevant departments are handling it. They shouldn’t have messed with you here,” Zach said grimly.
