Chapter 43
*Nolan’s POV*
I opened my eyes to the brightness of the morning, the light from the sun had found its way through the curtains and was now resting on my face. I groaned softly and sat up, feeling a strange sensation go through my body.
I turned my head and saw that the other side of the bed was rumpled as if someone had been there and indeed someone
was. Lisa!.
“Lisa?” I called, but a sharp pain shot through my head. I winced in pain and ran my fingers through my hair, trying to brush off the pain.
“Fuvk!” I muttered, annoyed at myself that I had done something as low as this. I could still smell the scent of her perfume, and for some reason, it felt soothing. I got up from the bed and walked around the room, but she wasn’t anywhere.
She was smart that was for sure and she probably wasn’t going to wait around to be seen in bed with the Alpha, especially not by the Luna of the pack I hadn’t realized that I had brought her back to the house, I probably hrad a hotel in mind, or maybe I just didn’t give a shit about what Zoe would think.
I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower, the water washed whatever was left from a strange and uneventful night. I got out and put my clothes on, every day was important and I couldn’t afford to be nonchalant about it.
Walking out of the room, I could notice the eyes of the staff following my every move. I ignored their gaze and got into the
car.
“Good morning, Alpha Nolan.” The driver greeted me with a smile. “Where do you want to go?” He asked, staring at me with his head turned.
“TechCorp,” I muttered without much enthusiasm. He nodded and started the engine. All I wanted was to get everything back to where it used to be and retain a hundred percent ownership of the company. I was tired of people trying to make decisions for me.
I scrolled through my iPad, going through several reports and research, but at the same time, I was fighting off the memories of what happened last night, or rather trying to remember what happened. The alcohol had nothing on me, but for some weird reason, I couldn’t remember the details of last night.

The gentle hum of the engine felt calming and I focused on it instead. In a few minutes we were at the office and the press were gathered in front as usual.
“Drive into the garage, Julius,” I said to the driver who did exactly as he was told. He parked and opened the door for me.
“Have a good day, sir ” he said, still with a smile. Julius wasn’t a werewolf, but he had seen things that would have made him one if that was how things worked.
I walked past him without even as little as a glance and got into the elevator as fast as I could. The new deal with the marketing firm for a new brand was a lifeline that I had convinced myself could solve at least half the problem.
I walked into my office, placed the device down, and walked straight to the window took a deep breath and looked through the glass and just like always, the streets were busy and people who had smaller issues than me walked by.
I walked back to my
desk and sat down, but just then there was a knock on the door and Lisa walked in.
“Good morning, Alpha Nolan.” Lisa greeted, holding her iPad close to her chest.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, lifting my head to look at her. She smiled and looked into my eyes. I wasn’t expecting her to feel guilty about what happened, but I also didn’t want her to feel like this was the start of something.

“I sent you the report from the team you set up this morning and you’ll have the rest of it before the day ends” She said confidently, just like she always did.
I nodded slowly with my eyes still on her.
“What’s this?” I asked suddenly, unable to keep it to myself for much longer. Her brow furrowed in confusion and the smile on her face almost disappeared.
“What sir?” She asked, moving closer to my table.
“The look on your face, what’s that supposed to mean?” I asked again. I wanted to stop, to tell myself that I was just probably all worked up and was overthinking it, but I didn’t.
“I…I don’t understand what you mean.” She said, stuttering slightly. I rolled my eyes and moved my chair forward.
“You’re brilliant, Lisa, and I’d love to have you around. I explained all that to you and that’s probably why you’re still here when others have gotten the sack, but just to try not to think of what happened last night.” I said, making it clear to her.
Her lips curved into a frown, but then she smiled and it turned into a short laugh.
“What?….oh!” She replied, shaking her head slowly.
“Nothing happened.” She blurted out, refusing to stop looking into my eyes.
“Nothing happened between us last night, Alpha.” She repeated.
“I told you when you asked me all those questions. You probably just needed someone to talk to and that was what we did I won’t lie, I would have wanted something to happen, I mean who wouldn’t? But it didn’t. I left before morning,”
“But how?” I asked, knowing that she didn’t bring a car and the mansion was a fair distance from the main city.
“I shifted into my wolf and took the route through the woods. It was a good run, I figured I needed it.” She said, smiling confidently.
I sighed deeply, embarrassed at how childish I must have been.
“That’s… good,” I replied, before waving her off. She did a little sarcastic bow before she walked off and I couldn’t be more impressed at how in control she was.
I picked up the iPad in front of me as soon as I heard the door shut, but just as I looked at the screen, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
“What the hell?”
