Perry understood almost instantly the underlying meaning behind Ariel’s words.

The Houston Group had managed to secure the patent license without much difficulty. Yet, it was not because Faye Technologies had any interest in doing business with them. Instead, it was because Perry had helped Ariel before.
Also, Ariel would not owe him any favors anymore since she had done this for him this time.
While staring at her impassive face, Perry understood clearly that Ariel had been courteous and polite to him not because she saw him as a friend.
After a while, he nodded. “I understand.”
Truthfully, Perry knew from the beginning that Ariel wouldn’t see him as anything more than a business acquaintance.
Moreover, he was Jayson’s friend. His and Ariel’s relationship just couldn’t possibly develop into something more.
Frankly, even if they did, Perry was not sure he would be able to handle the situation well.
He and Jayson had known each other for more than ten years. Perry couldn’t possibly sever ties with Jayson, nor would he risk making an enemy out of Bluum Corp.
Still, there was this part of human nature that would make one hope they could somehow have everything they wanted, even though they knew it was just realistically impossible.
People in their circle received an elite education and were taught to value profit above all else from a young age.
There were very few of them who would date someone simply out of love. Similarly, it would be even harder for people like them to risk losing or giving up on the elite status they had just because they were crazy about some
woman.
Perry admired ladies with exceptional talent and capability. Still, Ariel was his friend’s wife.
This was as far as their relationship could progress.
Also, Perry was well aware that Ariel had never once considered him a potential love interest.
He got up. With his gaze fixed on Ariel, Perry held out his hand. “Ms. Walker, thank you for letting the Houston Group have the patent license this time.”
Ariel was oblivious to these thoughts Perry was having. She held Perry’s hand lightly and shook hands with him.” You’re welcome. I’m simply repaying you for the favors.”
Perry could feel Ariel’s soft hand against his palm.
He tightened his grip around Ariel’s hand slightly. Then, he let go of her. “Can we contact you again if Freya has more questions for you?”
Ariel liked Freya quite a lot actually.
She nodded. “Sure.”
Perry said nothing else. He did not take up more of Ariel’s time as he left Faye Technologies‘ building and went back to doing what he was supposed to do.
After Perry left, Ariel’s phone’s notification ringtone sounded.

She lowered her head and glanced at the screen.
It was a WhatsApp message from Samson. This was the first time he had sent Ariel a message since they added each other’s numbers to their friends‘ list.
“Hello, Ms. Walker. It’s Samson Pryce. Congratulations on Faye Tech’s latest success! Can I know when you’ll be free? I’m planning to treat you to a meal on behalf of the Yeager Group. We’d like to find out more about Faye Tech’s new patented flight control system and your subsequent plans for it. Would you be free to meet, Ms. Walker?”
The Yeager Group was a major enterprise that specialized in producing military tech for their country.
Ariel replied right away. “Sure. You can pick the day and time, Mr. Pryce.”
Chad dropped by Ariel’s office some time later and brought her some news.
“The Sanderson Group and Jadeon Tech have made an appointment to meet with us today. Morgan and Lucas aren’t really doing any business that’s related to our industry. However, they’ve probably observed the investment trends in recent years and wanted to gain some profit out of Faye Tech’s new patented technology as well.”
Ariel continued reading her work documents. “Turn them down.”
Chad lifted his brows. “I already did. I’m just letting you know about it now.”
The Sandersons had been nothing but cruel to Ariel, after all.
Ariel was struck speechless.
Chad continued, “Nancy called me twice today, but I ignored her calls. The Veyo Solutions team is clearly getting more and more anxious with time.”
Ariel stood up and poured herself some water. “After all, it’ll be hard for them to recover and get back once they’ve missed the opportunity and fallen to a weaker position. If she calls again, just reject her outright.”
She would not be giving any hopes or chances to Veyo Solutions.
Chad chuckled as he thought about how frustrated Nancy would be at the moment.
“I can’t wait to see if Veyo Solutions will be able to make something comparable to our flight control system since they definitely won’t be getting to use ours.
“By the way, did Jayson try to help Nancy talk to you about the flight control system?”
