Even though Ariel’s question sounded completely harmless Nancy still found her tone rather patronizing.
Her expression hardened. Nancy tightened her grip on the handle of her bag.
She reorganized her thoughts and exhaled slowly. “I think you’re already aware that I had no clue about what they did.”
Nancy felt there was no point in Ariel blaming her. Their top priority should be apprehending the main culprit behind this incident.
Ariel should not be picking a fight with her now just because she was bitter and jealous.
At the thought of that, Nancy pursed her lips and looked at Ariel.
“We can sort this out through talks and negotiations. Veyo Solutions will provide you and Faye Tech with appropriate compensation. I hope we can reach an agreement through negotiation and you’ll withdraw the case.”
Since this was a case of private prosecution, Nancy could still do something to salvage the situation.
Ariel turned around and glanced over her shoulder at Nancy “Instead of accepting dirty money from you, I’d rather see you get thrown into prison and spend some time in there.”
Nancy stared at Ariel in utter disbelief. She clearly had not expected Ariel to say something so harsh and mean.
Ariel averted her gaze and gave one last remark. “Please make sure that you follow the proper procedure. You’ll have all the time to speak to me in court.”
She paid no mind to the dark expression on Nancy’s face as she headed into their office building the next instant.
Janice walked slowly behind Ariel. Then, she halted and turned her gaze toward Nancy. Janice tilted her head and smiled sweetly. “Ms. Stanton, we’re simply doing the exact thing you’ve been saying you’d do.”
She remembered vividly how Nancy had smugly talked about pursuing legal actions time and time again at the beginning of this incident. It was time Nancy got a taste of her own medicine.
Nancy’s chest heaved as she realized what Janice was doing. She suppressed the agitation in her and strode toward
her car.
She could see it clearly now that the Faye Technologies team had no intention of speaking or negotiating with her. They were not after money or anything else. These people simply wanted to bring her down.
However, Nancy would really be in big trouble once the case entered the prosecution stage.
With the evidence of Nancy having committed defamation and her being involved in a leak of confidential information, Faye Technologies had enough reason to send her to prison.
Since she did not make it to enter Faye Technologies‘ building, Nancy went back to her car. Sarah was sitting in the back seat. Her expression grew tense when she saw Nancy getting into the car with a frown on her face.
“Did it not work out?”
Nancy shook her head. Ariel had refused outright to speak to her.
Sarah was sincerely worried this time. She subconsciously raised her voice.

For the last couple of days, the police had been visiting Vireon’s office to conduct their investigation.
They questioned Zach and his employees to find out if anyone had violated any rules or regulations. The police also investigated whether there were any loopholes in Vireon’s method of granting its staff permission to view Faye Technologies‘ patent, which might have led to the leak of information.
The Vireon team might have been following regulations and did not participate in any of Terrance’s plans. It was Terrance who had probably stolen the information from them, as he had ulterior motives.
Unfortunately, the Vireon team had been dragged into this mess. They would have to bear part of the responsibility for what happened if Faye Technologies were to insist they were at fault.
Now, it all came down to whether Faye Technologies would hold them accountable for having allowed a mistake like this to happen.
