riel lifted her head and spotted Jayson, who stood behind Frederick. He had a neutral expression on his face. With one simple action, he managed to keep Frederick under control.
Frederick could feel a sharp pain in his shoulder blade. He reflexively took a step backward. He pursed his lips when he saw Jayson. “Mr. Larkin? No, you probably had some misunderstanding. I was just talking to Ariel Walker.
Jayson finally let go of him. At the same time, he glanced at Ariel out of the corners of his eyes.
Chad had already stuck his hand out in front of Ariel to protect her when he saw Frederick raising his hand. He lowered his guard a little now. Still, Chad’s expression seemed a bit cold.
Frederick subconsciously raised his hand to massage the area of his shoulder where it still hurt. He looked slightly puzzled as he gazed at Jayson. “Mr. Larkin, you’ve come here to speak up for Ms. Stanton, right?”
Jayson was Nancy’s boyfriend, after all. He must be here to make Ariel’s side explain and pay for having made Nancy suffer all the unfair treatment.
Frederick had also come here today because he was so worried after hearing about all the unpleasant things that had happened to Nancy.
“Mr. Swanson, Ms. Stanton’s real boyfriend is here. So, you can stop minding other people’s business now.”
Chad was really getting quite upset this time. Although Frederick was Janice’s brother, he was not exactly someone who deserved Chad’s patience or respect.
Frederick widened his eyes. “Mr. Hockney, why are you being just like Ariel? The way you’re saying these things…”
Frederick reckoned Chad was becoming more and more vulgar and unsophisticated because he had spent too much time around Ariel.
“You might find my words disagreeable, Mr. Swanson. However, shouldn’t you pause and take a moment to reflect on how I might have said those things because your actions and behavior were too annoying and obnoxious?
“Those who didn’t know better would surely assume you’re Ms. Stanton’s boyfriend with how invested you are to help her right now,” Chad snickered with a stony look on his face.
Frederick’s face paled a little. He quickly turned his eyes to Jayson. His expression hardened. “Mr. Larkin, I hope you won’t have any misunderstanding about that.”
“You don’t have to explain anything to me, Mr. Swanson. Instead, you should probably offer Ms. Walker an apology.” Jayson’s tone was calm. He did not seem to care about the purpose of Frederick coming to Faye Technologies‘ office today.
Frederick was struck speechless. He hadn’t really done anything to Ariel. Frederick had simply requested Ariel to fix the mess she had made and set things right once and for all.
Ariel couldn’t even be bothered to argue with Frederick. She directed her gaze to Jayson. “Aren’t you here for the same purpose as him?”
She couldn’t understand why Jayson was trying to act like he was the good guy now.
Jayson didn’t try to offer an explanation. He appeared unruffled by the icy look Ariel was giving him. He asked, ” Do you mind sparing some of your time so we can talk?”
Ariel frowned.

Nancy had lost face and credibility after having been through the series of recent events and how Andre had officially announced he would no longer be her supervisor.
“Mr. Larkin, it seems like you people won’t stop coming to our office until this is all over, huh?” Chad could roughly tell the purpose of Jayson’s visit today. He also realized how certain situations were simply inevitable for them.
Jayson turned his gaze toward him and replied calmly, “If you’re worried about issues like that, perhaps we can settle the problem right away and get it over with once and for all?”
Chad knitted his brows. Jayson made it fairly clear now that they would only be getting more of these unwanted visits at Faye Technologies if they refused to speak to him today.
Ariel understood what Jayson was implying too. She had a cold look in her eyes. She knew Jayson well enough to know that he would do whatever it took to achieve his goals and purpose.
He might even try to sabotage Faye Technologies‘ plans or business because of what happened to Nancy.
Jayson was bound to interfere with this incident involving Nancy. There was no use in their refusing to meet or talk to him.
“Chad, I’ll talk to him. You take care of that guy.” Ariel cast Frederick a sidelong glance. Then, she turned around and headed into their building.
Jayson followed behind her and strode off. Behind him, Colton quickly tried to catch up with them.
Since they couldn’t risk letting others overhear certain parts of their conversation, Ariel led Jayson to her office.
It was Jayson’s first time being in Ariel’s office.
The room was built with a modern, minimalistic design. However, there was a warm, cozy vibe in the room since Ariel had decorated the space with some items and ornaments.
Jayson detected a nice scent as soon as he stepped in through the door. He spotted the gardenia that Ariel had planted in a pot and placed near the window.
He looked away shortly afterward.
Ariel did not bother being polite by asking Jayson to sit or if he wanted any drinks.
