Ariel had spent quite some time on editing and perfecting lier paper.
She was quite the perfectionist. Once she had made up her mind to do something, Ariel wanted to give it her best shot.
As for the fact that Jayson had arranged for Nancy to meet the Cavells and Cedric, Ariel couldn’t care less about it. She wouldn’t let someone else’s personal affairs affect her work or progress.
Meanwhile, Ariel found out from Janice that Nancy’s Instagram post had gotten many people speculating. It was easy for Janice to gather the latest news circulating in Eldoria since she had established numerous connections.
People had begun making various speculations about Jayson and Nancy.
Some people speculated that Jayson had probably taken Nancy to meet the Cavells at a time like this since it served as a form of reminder to everyone that Nancy would eventually become his wife.
Despite the recent incidents with Faye Technologies, no one should try to treat Nancy with scorn or disrespect.
People made up various rumors and stories. Yet, the gist of what they were saying was pretty much the same. Jayson and Nancy’s relationship was still going strong.
Ariel read those stories and treated them as harmless gossip.
They stayed in Sorenta for two days. Ariel had to visit the hospital as soon as she returned to Eldoria. The appointment she had made with her doctor was around that time.
Before that, Tom contacted Ariel on the phone.
“Ms. Walker, we’ve pretty much completed the necessary procedures for terminating the contract with Veyo Solutions. However, the Veyo Solutions team has expressed their dissatisfaction during the process.”
Tom wasn’t sure about the exact reason, but everything had happened so quickly and abruptly for those in Nexura Solutions. Since Nancy was their ex–boss‘ girlfriend, Tom wanted to confirm with Ariel again on how they should proceed with things related to Veyo Solutions after this.
“Just ignore them. We won’t be collaborating with Veyo Solutions for any projects after this.” Ariel could tell what Tom was concerned about. She decided to give a clear instruction on that.
Tom said hesitantly, “If Mr. Larkin tries to find fault with us or thinks you’re being too harsh on Ms. Stanton…”
For the past few days, people had been talking about how Nancy had met with some of Jayson’s family. Moreover, Jayson was still one of Nexura Solutions‘ shareholders.
Even though he was no longer their boss, Jayson was still someone with elite status and significant influence. If they happened to get on his wrong side…
Ariel stared at her laptop as she logged into the SCI Aerospace Journals‘ official website to submit her paper.
“If he tries to question you about those things, you can tell him to speak to me instead.” Ariel gave a cold, decisive
response.
Yet, Tom was extremely impressed by her answer.
Ariel couldn’t be bothered to do these favors for Jayson. In a way, it gave Tom a clear idea of what boundaries he should be drawing while carrying out his duties. It also meant he could now forget about certain concerns while doing his work.
Chapter 405
He couldn’t help but admire Ariel even more for her grit and courage.
By the time their call had ended, Ariel had finished submitting her third research paper.

She was unsure how long the entire review process would take. Judging from her experience, it would help speed up the process if the submitted paper demonstrated excellent quality in its content and various other aspects.
Ariel went to the hospital during her free time.
Frankly, undergoing the chemotherapy session was an awful and painful experience. Ariel wouldn’t want to do it if she had a choice. She had to mentally prepare herself each time before attending the session.
She arrived at the oncology department and sat quietly outside the infusion area to wait for her turn.
While she was waiting, Ariel received a call from Janice.
“You’re not in your office. Where are you?”
Ariel glanced at the people moving about busily in this area. Then, she said, “Something came up just now. What’s the matter?”
“Where are you? Are you at Nexura Tower? I could’ve gone with you.”
Ariel pondered for a moment and swiftly changed the topic. “Judging from your tone, what you want to tell me isn’t something related to work, right?”
Janice got distracted almost instantly. “Didn’t you just submit your paper recently? I just got some news from some friends. Nancy had also finished writing her paper. According to my sources, she had also submitted her paper for the SCI Aerospace Section One Journals. Isn’t it such a wild coincidence?”
Ariel knew that Nancy had been trying to get Carlos to check and review her paper. It seemed like she had finished writing the paper and submitted it for the same category, just like Ariel.
“I asked Chad about it. He said that Nancy had picked the perfect time to do something like this. The recent incidents have damaged her reputation quite a bit. It would work wonders to fix her situation if she manages to unlock a new achievement in her academic studies.”
Ariel fell into deep thought.
Nancy completed her research paper just a few days after meeting Cedric. It seemed like she might have gotten Cedric’s advice for her writing.
Ariel couldn’t help but wonder if Jayson had really managed to persuade someone with a volatile temper like Cedric to help them.
Jayson had been very smart about it. The timing was just right.
Firstly, there were rumors that they were planning to get married soon. After that, there was news of Nancy having completed her research paper. In a way, Jayson had paved the way for Nancy’s success yet again.
The only thing Ariel was unsure about was whether Jayson had only asked Cedric to help advise Nancy regarding her paper or if he had some other plans as well.
“Tsk tsk. She’s the one who’s brought this upon herself. She’ll realize how great your differences are once both of your papers are published and released.”
Janice knew for a fact that there would hardly be any issues with Ariel’s paper, considering her level of knowledge and expertise. However, Nancy clearly felt quite confident about her work as well.

Ariel was not really that conceited. If Nancy had really received Cedric’s guidance, her paper should be quite well- written as well.
“Jan, I need to settle some stuff first. I’ll talk to you later,” Ariel said; she figured it was about time for her treatment.
Before Janice could say anything, Ariel had hung up.
Regarding her illness, Ariel honestly didn’t want any of her family or friends to see her in a weakened, pathetic state, especially when she had to go for chemotherapy.
Perhaps she was trying not to worry them, or perhaps it was about maintaining her pride and dignity, something that seemed trivial given her proximity to death.
Ariel was just a normal human being. Sometimes, overwhelming worry gripped her; other times, she simply felt cowardly, or perhaps it was that ridiculous sense of pride.
Even Ariel hadn’t come to terms with the fact that she had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and her condition might be incurable. It would only be even more devastating for those close to her when they learned about it.
For now, Ariel still couldn’t bring herself to bravely and calmly talk about her condition.
She took a deep breath. When she heard the nurse calling her name, Ariel headed toward the infusion area.
The same thing happened again.
Due to her weak constitution, the potent drugs made the entire process a torture for Ariel.
Having eaten nothing, she expelled some gastric juice.
As soon as she left the infusion area, Ariel placed one hand against the wall and slowly crouched down. Sweat beaded her forehead.
As Liam exited the elevator, he immediately saw a hunched figure outside the oncology department.
He halted and fixed his gaze on the person. Liam soon noticed it was Ariel.
His eyes narrowed. With a frown on his forehead, Liam turned around and headed toward Ariel.
“Ms. Walker? Are you not feeling well?”
He crouched a little and lightly patted Ariel’s shoulder. At the same time, Liam felt a sense of disbelief as he directed his gaze to the sign displayed on the wall of the oncology department.
