Chapter 406
Ariel froze for a split second when she saw Liam.
Liam didn’t wait for her response; Ariel’s condition was evident.
“You should sit and rest for a bit.” Liam furrowed his brows. With one hand, he supported Ariel and helped her to her feet.
Noticing Ariel’s diminishing strength and slight sway, Liam braced himself, providing a firmer support for her to lean against.
At the same time, Liam was mindful enough to keep just the right amount of distance from Ariel so as not to make her feel uncomfortable.
“Thanks. I’m alright.” Ariel thanked Liam once she had stood up straight. Perhaps it was because she was in a weakened state, her voice was barely audible.
Liam responded, “Sit here and rest for a moment.”
His gaze drifted toward the oncology department again.
Liam had done cancer research for many years and seen countless cancer patients. He knew very well what a patient would look like after undergoing chemotherapy.
He took in Ariel’s pale face. Liam sounded quite surprised. “You’re here by yourself? You didn’t have any company with you?”
Ariel noticed the look of disapproval on his face. She could tell Liam probably had an inkling of what she was doing here.
She nodded. “I came here alone.”
However, Ariel didn’t explain why she was there alone.
Liam sat next to her. “It’s best to have someone with you if you’re here for your chemotherapy session.”
He was unsure why Jayson was not with Ariel that day. If they really shared the kind of relationship Liam suspected them to have, shouldn’t Jayson accompany Ariel right now even if he was also seeing Nancy?
Ariel nodded, keeping to herself the fact that Jayson knew nothing about her illness.
“Do you mind telling me about your condition?” Liam asked.
Ariel saw no point in hiding it from him at this point. After all, Liam was a doctor. He wouldn’t recklessly disclose a patient’s personal information to others. “It’s endometrial cancer.”
Liam’s lips pressed into a thin line. No wonder he’d been sensing something wasn’t quite right with Ariel.
His mind went to Jayson and Nancy, and it hit him that Ariel was facing this by herself, with no one but herself to rely on. Liam frowned subconsciously. “Did you bring your medical records or any relevant reports today?”
Ariel shook her head. “I just came for my second chemotherapy session.”
“It’s alright. I can access your records through the hospital’s system and review them. When was the last time you got a checkup?” Liam softened his tone, as he didn’t want to put any pressure on Ariel.
Ariel was feeling a bit puzzled. “That was about two months ago.”
After a moment’s consideration, Liam asked, “If you don’t mind putting your faith in me, perhaps I could help

take a look at your condition. However, I would suggest that you undergo a more thorough and specialized medical examination. That way, I’d be able to gather more detailed information.”
Ariel was quite surprised.
She knew how busy Liam was with his research work and day–to–day duties. It was almost impossible for him to make time for other things.
Still, Liam was undeniably a top–tier, extremely talented doctor. Someone like him had offered to help check Ariel’s condition.
Ariel didn’t hesitate for long. Her eyes twinkled with anticipation. “Sure. Thank you.”
Liam looked at her. “You’re in no condition to do the examination today. You should rest for about a week. Orice you’ve recovered your strength, you can come by and meet me again.”
Ariel hadn’t expected things to turn out like this today.
Liam noticed she was looking a bit better now. “Do you need me to head downstairs with you?”
Ariel checked the time and shook her head. “I shouldn’t trouble you anymore, Dr. Spencer. I’m feeling a lot better
now.”
Liam gave a slight nod. He tactfully kept his mouth shut. Still…
Just as Ariel turned around, Liam couldn’t help thinking about some of the circumstances she had kept from everyone else.
He stared at her back. “For a patient, it’s imperative that they maintain a happy, positive mood. Perhaps you could consider letting go of certain things and people that would make you unhappy.”
Those words halted Ariel in her tracks. She glanced over her shoulder, feeling a bit confused.
But Liam had already walked off in another direction.
