Kaden’s face turned stern, and he looked at Cody with disdain.
“Who are you to talk to me like that? You think I’m doing this because of your boss? Even if that were true, it wouldn’t mean you could talk to me like that.”
Cody was at a loss for words. He knew he truly wasn’t in a position to argue.
He lowered his head and suddenly heard cries from a distance. Looking over, he saw an old man standing in front of a bulldozer.
You can’t do this! The government has ignored us for so many years, and now you want to tear down our homes? What are we supposed to do?”
“Mr. Clark, you will hurt them!” Cody was extremely anxious as the situation was spiraling out of control.
“Kid, you’re too naive. All you want is a result, right? The process doesn’t matter. Just turn a blind eye, and you’ll understand these truths sooner or later.”
Hearing this, Cody could only worry helplessly.
All he could do now was try to reassure the elders and explain everything clearly to them.
Meanwhile, Felix saw what was happening and had already led some people to confront the law enforcement officers.
But they were outnumbered. Each of them was scrawny and no match for the law enforcement officers.
Kaden leisurely lit a cigarette, took a puff, and tried hard to suppress the discomfort from the stench reaching his nose. “What are you all standing around for? Get moving!”
He just wanted to finish the job quickly so that Kenneth’s bodyguards wouldn’t follow him anymore.
The whole slum was in chaos.
“Please, sir, don’t take our home away.”
Sir, please don’t do this. This is the only home we have.”
“We’re begging you, sir.”
Two children cautiously approached Kaden, tears streaming down their faces.
However, Kaden continued smoking and didn’t even glance up.
“Sir, we’re begging you.” The two boys knelt, bowing deeply as they pleaded. One of them was armless, finding it incredibly difficult each time he tried to get back up.
“Ugh! How disgusting!” Kaden moved back a step in disgust, afraid the dirty kids would touch his clean clothes.
Pleading was useless. He quickly tossed the cigarette butt away and crushed it fiercely with his shoe, continuing to command, “Hurry up! Let’s finish this before it gets dark.”
He needed to complete the task and report it.
The cries of the old and young were drowned out by the thunderous noise of the collapsing walls.

A black Maybach stopped on the narrow path behind the low wall.
Ophelia heard the noise and furrowed her eyebrows slightly, wondering, “What happened? Is everything handled?”
She looked at Kenneth beside her and said, “I’ll go over and take care of this myself. Just wait for a bit.”
She knew the foul smell in this slum was worse this season, and she didn’t want Kenneth to feel uncomfortable.
Alright.” Kenneth nodded.
Seeing this place, he could imagine the hardships Ophelia had endured, feeling distressed.
Ophelia got out of the car and walked up the small hill, seeing a scene that looked like hell on earth.
They demolished the slum like bandits, with no trace of humanity.
Even with the cries from the elderly and children, they showed no sign of stopping.
Ophelia strode over, shouting hoarsely, “Stop it, all of you!”
Cody felt reassured as soon as he saw Ophelia arrive.
He thought, ‘Does Ophelia have a bad sense of smell or something? She doesn’t seem to react to such a nasty odor. Ophelia helped up the two boys from the ground, confronting the thug–like Kaden. “Who told you to do this?”
Kaden smirked, not taking Ophelia seriously at all.
He thought, ‘If Kenneth were not supporting her, she’d be nothing.‘
“I’m just doing what you said and getting these people settled,” Kaden said nonchalantly, his tone rising at the end.
Looking at those people in the distance, he showed complete contempt.
“Is this how you settle these people?” Ophelia looked at them angrily.
Felix was protecting a child when a sudden rockfall injured his leg, causing him to scream in pain.
Ophelia glanced over and saw those enforcers continuing their actions.
“Stop. I told you to stop!” Ophelia glared at Kaden, trying to prevent things from escalating.
Kaden smiled, “Ms. Spencer, why get upset? Isn’t this the result you wanted? I tore down their homes. With nowhere to go, they’ll have to listen to me.”
He seemed polite, but his tone showed he despised the people in the slum.
“Ophelia, someone’s buried under the rubble over there,” Cody hurriedly reported.
Ophelia turned her head. The scene looked just like what happened after an earthquake.
A young man holding a child had a head injury and was unconscious, but he still held the little girl tightly to protect her.
Because of this, all those enforcers finally stopped.

Ophelia held back her anger, turned around, and started rescuing people from the rubble.
As she got closer, she realized the young man was the skinny Lucas with a congenital deformity in his left hand.
“Call an ambulance! Why are you just standing there? Save him!” Ophelia shouted, not forgetting to glare back at Kaden as a warning.
If a life was lost, she wouldn’t just let this matter go.
She, along with Cody and the others, carefully moved the bricks away. Lucas was already unconscious, but fortunately, the child in his arms only had minor injuries. They carried the two people out.
Don’t move them to prevent further injuries. Just wait for the ambulance,” Ophelia instructed, her once spotless clothes dirtied.
She turned her head, covered in dust and grime. However, there was an undeniable and intimidating aura about her.
She slowly walked towards Kaden, her eyes cold. Though she seemed calmer than before, there was a powerful sense of pressure emanating from her, reminiscent of Kenneth.
Kaden swallowed nervously. Compared to before, he looked a bit flustered, instinctively avoiding her gaze.
The more nervous he got, the more he pretended to remain composed on the surface.
He said, “You can’t blame me. They were uncooperative. Ultimately, it’s because you didn’t plan things out clearly. Dor want to develop the slum quickly? I’m just trying to keep up with you.”
Ophelia admitted that she had rushed things with the slum development and hadn’t communicated properly.
With limited time, she just wanted to make sure everything and everyone was taken care of before she left, but there were certainly things that didn’t go as planned.
Kaden lit another cigarette. “Aren’t you just after a result? The details don’t matter. The lives of these lower–class people in the slum are worthless. Even if one or two die, it won’t- Ah!”
