Chapter 12
My belly became more and more prominent.
No matter how busy Ryan was with work, every day after coming home, he insisted on personally applying pregnancy oil for me.
“I don’t think it’s necessary to apply this stuff.”
“If stretch marks are going to appear, just let them come.”
Those are my medals of honor.”
Ryan didn’t argue, he always just smiled at me indulgently and lovingly, “Whatever my wife says is right.”
But his hands never stopped.
Thoughtful and meticulous, he applied layer after layer of pregnancy oil for me.
“The medals are in my heart.”
“My wife will always be beautiful, we can’t let childbirth leave you with any regrets.”
I looked down at Ryan, feeling sweet in my heart.
Who says younger men don’t know how to cherish someone?
Later, I ran into Liam and Aria on the street once or twice
more.
The first time I encountered them, they were arguing on the street..
I had a craving and wanted to buy some candied hawthorn and iced jelly. While the vendor was making them, I happened to overhear them arguing hysterically, losing all sense of decorum right there on the street.
Aria kept asking Liam to give her a proper status.
But Liam didn’t like her at all.
Aria’s belly was a bit bigger than mine. With her big belly, she looked haggard, shouting like a shrew:
“Liam, are you even human anymore?”
“I’m carrying your child in my belly, and you say you don’t want to acknowledge it?”
“You just want to get back together with Olivia, don’t you? She’s already married, no matter how shamelessly you beg her, she won’t even look at you again!”
Aria’s impassioned speech hadn’t even finished.

When Liam slapped her hard across the face.
“Shut up!
“Olivia was absolutely right back then, you’re just a damned bitch!”
“If it wasn’t for you seducing me back then, how would I have fallen for your tricks, and how would I have made Olivia angry enough to break up with me in a fit of rage?”
Aria, being pregnant, almost lost her balance from that slap.
Aria steadied herself against a nearby wall, and when she came to her senses, her eyes were full of undisguised
malice.
I don’t know what happened after that.
Because the candied hawthorn and iced jelly were ready, I stepped onto Ryan’s car.
Without even looking back once.
