Twin Temptation
~Lyra~
Well, folks, you are not going to believe this, but apparently my life has officially turned into a messed–up daytime drama, and guess what? I’m the main character who did not get the script.
One second Damon is shutting Tasha down like he’s some terrifying but ridiculously hot courtroom judge handing out a life sentence, and the next second the front door swings open and–oh my God, you are not even ready for this–out comes Damon’s twin brother.
Yes. Twin. Brother.
Let me just pause here because I need you to feel what I felt. Imagine standing next to the man who has ruined your body on a private jet seat and made you forget your own name about three times in one flight, and suddenly, out of nowhere, another man walks out of the house looking exactly like him.
Same height. Same jawline. Same stupidly perfect hair. Same everything. It was like a copy–paste situation
gone wrong because this guy looked like Damon, but not really. Like someone took Damon, dipped him in
trouble, and told him to smile like the devil.
I swear my brain short–circuited. For one horrifying, confusing second, I thought Damon had cloned himself.
Like, was this some kind of werewolf Alpha science experiment? Was I about to be in a love triangle with two
of the same man? Because if so, I am not mentally prepared for that.
“Oh f**k,” Damon muttered under his breath, and that’s when I realized this was not just some random cousin
with good genes. Nope. This was serious.
“Damon,” the twin drawled, his voice smooth like honey but sticky in a way that made me want to back up.
Looking good, brother.”
Brother. He said brother. Which means this is real. Which means Damon has been keeping the fact that he
has a literal identical twin a secret from me this entire time.
And I know what you’re probably thinking: Lyra, calm down, maybe it just never came up. No. No, no, no. There is no universe where you “forget” to tell your pregnant eighteen–year–old mate that you have a twin brother lurking in the family house. That is not small talk you skip over breakfast. That is life–changing
information, okay?
And the worst part? The way he looked at me. Because the second his eyes landed on me, that smirk stretched just a little wider, like he could already smell every secret Damon and I had shared, like he knew every filthy detail of the plane ride, like he could see straight through my shirt and into every shameful thought in my head.
I froze. My heart was pounding so loud I thought everyone could hear it. My legs, already shaky from the
flight, turned into actual jelly.
My brain kept screaming don’t stare, don’t stare, don’t stare, but of course I stared. How could I not? He was Damon, but not Damon. He was familiar and dangerous all at once.
And all I could think was: great, Lyra, just great. You already barely survived meeting the sister, almost passed out when Lilian almost teared Tasha up, and now here comes twin brother number two walking

“And who’s this?” Daren asked, his voice rolling out smooth like silk, and then he smirked. Not a polite, friendly smerk either.
No, this was the kind of smirk that made my stomach twist because it was slow, dangerous, and absolutely intentional. His eyes slid over me in one long sweep, and I swear I felt every second of it crawf across my
svin
“She’s beautiful,” he said, his tone dripping with lazy charm, but there was nothing lazy about the way his gaze lingered on me.
His eyes dragged down my body in a way that made me feel like I was suddenly standing there naked under
his stare
“Tight little waist, curves in all the right places, and those eyes… He leaned just slightly to the side as if he could drink me in better “the kind of eyes that make men forget their own names.”
I nearly choked on air. My body went hot all over, my pulse banging against my throat so loudly I swore
Damon had to hear it.
I wanted to move, to cross my arms over my chest or hide behind Damon, but I couldn’t move. My legs felt like they had been glued to the ground,
Daren tilted his head, his smirk stretching wider. “She looks young for you, brother. Don’t tell me you’ve gone and snatched yourself a pretty little thing who hasn’t even finished growing into herself yet.”
He laughed softly, the kind of laugh that made heat flood my face because it sounded dirty without even trying. “You always did like to claim what everyone else was too afraid to touch.”
“Daren.” Damon’s voice came out hard, sharp enough to slice through the heavy air between us. His shoulders squared as he stepped closer, his body shifting just enough to put himself in front of me like a wall. “That’s
enough.”
But Daren didn’t stop. His eyes stayed locked on me, dark and mischievous. “I’m just saying what we’re all thinking, Damon. She’s gorgeous. And innocent. You can smell it on her. I bet she blushes every time you touch her. I bet she makes those sweet little noises that drive you insane.” He chuckled again, low and dangerous. “Tell me, brother, have you ruined her yet?”
My entire body went up in flames at his words. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t blink. I felt Damon’s fury radiating off him in waves so hot it almost scorched my skin, but at the same time, I couldn’t stop staring at Daren, because his words twisted in my chest and sank straight into the places I didn’t want anyone else to see.
Damon’s jaw clenched tight, and his growl rumbled deep, vibrating through the air. “Shut your mouth, Daren, before I rip it off your face.”
he
But Daren? Oh no. He didn’t back off. He didn’t flinch. He didn’t even pretend to take it seriously. In chuckled, slow and maddening, that smirk still playing at the corners of his mouth as if Damon’s rage was the funniest thing he had seen all day.

“Calm down, brother,” Daren said smoothly, raising his hands a little in mocking surrender, though his eyes
never left me.
“You’re so quick to snap, just like always. I wasn’t insulting her. I was appreciating her. There’s a difference He tilted his head and let his gaze drift over me again, seductively and slow enough to make my face burn
“And honestly, who wouldn’t appreciate her? Look at her. She’s stunning. Young, soft, untouched in all the ways that matter. I’d say you’ve outdone yourself this time.”
My heart thudded painfully in my chest, and my skin felt like it was on fire under the weight of his stare. Damon’s hand twitched at his side, his whole body coiled like he was a second away from lunging.
Daren, of course, wasn’t finished. He leaned in just slightly, his voice dropping lower, silkier, and somehow
filthier.
“Don’t be so defensive, Damon. You can’t expect me not to notice when you walk in here with a girl who looks like that. Hell, half the pack will notice. Half the pack already is. And if you weren’t my brother, I’d be tempted
to steal her right from under you.”
That was it. That was the breaking point. Damon’s entire body tensed, his eyes blazing, his chest heaving like he had been holding back a storm that finally tore through him. His growl rumbled out so loud it made the ground feel like it vibrated beneath my feet.
“Not because you look exactly like me does it give you any right to talk to my woman like that!” Damon snapped. His hand shot out, shoving Daren hard enough that his back hit the nearest stone pillar.
Daren just laughed. His head tilted back slightly, his smirk refusing to die, his voice smooth even though Damon was standing over him with murder in his eyes. “Your woman?” he repeated slowly, dragging the words out like he was tasting them. “Don’t tell me you found your mate already, Damon. You?”
He pushed off the pillar, brushing the dust from his shoulder as if nothing had happened, and his eyes glinted with wicked amusement as they landed back on me. “So this is her? The one fate tied you to? I’ll be damned. She’s young, she’s beautiful, and she looks like she has no idea what kind of hell she’s walked into.”
I felt my face burn so hot I thought I might combust right there on the spot. My legs wanted to move, to hide behind Damon’s body, but they refused to obey. My chest was tight, my heart was a drumbeat gone wild, and all I could do was stare as Damon’s fury only grew sharper, hotter, more dangerous by the second.
“She’s mine,” Damon growled, stepping closer until he was inches from Daren’s face. His voice dropped into a tone so possessive, so final, it made my skin prickle. “And if you so much as look at her again like that, I will tear your eyes out with my bare hands.”
Daren chuckled low, his smirk widening as though the threat excited him instead of warning him. His eyes cut to me again, slow as he licked his mouth, like he wanted to make Damon snap even further. “Oh, brother,” he purred, “you just made this a whole lot more interesting.”
Oh my God. When Daren said that when his smirk stretched wider and those words rolled off his tongue like he was promising trouble–my wolf lost it. She couldn’t stop talking to me.
He is dangerous, she hissed inside my head, her voice sharp and breathless all at once. Stay awa Stay behind Damon. Don’t let him look at you like that again. Don’t let him smell your heat, don’t le you’re weak. He will use it. He will ruin you.

Do you see the way he looks at you? my wolf pressed on her tone both furious and frantic. That le net a brother’s gaze. That is hunger. That is want. He wants to test Damon, he wants to rest you and if w he will break every boundary you have left.

I wanted to shout back at her in my head, I wanted to tell her to shut up, but I couldn’t, because of t wrong. My entire body was reacting, and I hated it.
“Mine,” Damon growled again.
But Daren only laughed, and my wolf snarled. He is mocking him. He is mocking us don’t let him see you shake. Don’t let him know how much he rattles you. Goddess, Lyra, hold yourself together before he makes a
game out of you.
The worst part was, she was right. Because the way Daren’s smirk curved, the way his eyes lingered, if fat exactly like he already had.
