Chapter 480
Jayson was silent for a few seconds before finally saying, “ldn’t get it. Something unexpected happened.” He replied honestly, but to Ariel, it sounded ridiculous.
The staff member had confirmed it was Jayson who bought the painting. Who else could have had it removed before she arrived?
“Then tell me where it is. Jayson, I don’t want to hear any more carefully worded nonsense.” Ariel was angry now.
From the moment she got there, nothing had felt right. The gallery had quietly moved up its opening hours without any public notice, and the painting was gone.
It all felt too deliberate, like it was designed to make her miss it.
Jayson could hear the restrained fury in Ariel’s voice. He listened for a while, then finally said, “Maybe you should focus your energy on the work you love for now. This isn’t worth your time or effort.”
He didn’t respond with a clear “I don’t know” this time.
That answer alone was enough for Ariel to realize that Jayson probably knew everything. He just chose not to tell her.
She knew him all too well. Without wasting another second she hung up right away. She knew that once Jayson had made up his mind, there was no changing it. And at this point, he had no weakness left for her to use against him.
Especially now that Nancy’s role as the mistress was out in the open, Jayson would feel even less need to tread carefully.
He wasn’t worried about Ariel doing anything that could tarnish Nancy’s innocent image. Instead, his main concern was that Ariel might use the painting to damage Nancy’s and Sarah’s reputations.
The wasted trip and pointless excitement drained Ariel.
She rested her head on the steering wheel, deep in thought for a long while before finally deciding to head back to Faye Technologies.
She needed to figure out how to turn the tide.
As soon as she stepped into the office, Chad approached her “Veyo has just announced a new project, and they moved fast this time. They’ve released a small part of the concept, and the quality looks exceptional.”
He scoffed under his breath.
Jayson sure introduced Cedric to Nancy at the perfect time.
Nancy’s reputation had taken some recent hits. But with the project that Cedric led going live, plenty of people were drawn by his name alone. No one cared much about Nancy’s scandals anymore.
Chad couldn’t help but wonder if Jayson had planned this all along. The timing was always just right.
Ariel lowered her gaze and replied rationally, “Because they all know that with Mr. Warbrooke involved, there’s little risk. And this happens to be the first project he’s taken on since his return, which makes it especially significant.”

This project would be a safe bet and bring in major profits for Veyo Solutions.
When it wrapped up in a few months, Nancy would be riding that wave.
At that point, the public would only see her as a capable woman who could get Jayson to back her and even bring Cedric on board. Any blemishes on her record would be conveniently forgotten.
It was no wonder Jayson didn’t want Ariel anywhere near that painting. He was always protecting Nancy.
Chad frowned slightly. He knew it wasn’t realistic to think Mancy would fall from grace just because of a scandal
or two.
The matter of her research paper and identity was nothing more than gossip over tea.
After all, the man standing behind Nancy was Jayson. That alone gave her all the chances she would ever need to stay on top.
