Chapter 36
Tll take you somewhere tonight. Clarence paused, and then added with a knowing look, “Make sure we’ll enjoy.”
Seraphina was confused and thought. What is he even talking about?”
Before she could ask, he turned and walked away, his usual cool demeanor intact. She decided not to press for answers. She’d find out what he was up to when she checked the USB later
Clarence headed straight to the underground garage with Kandy Seraphina sat in the garden for a bit until Sharon and a young maid came by to collect the dishes.
“Ms. Johnson, the sun’s out. Why don’t you head inside and take a break?” Sharon suggested with a smile.
“Sure, Seraphina replied, but she didn’t get up right away. Instead, she helped them gather the dishes.
“Oh no. Ms. Johnson, I can handle this,” the maid insisted.
“It’s no big deal” Seraphina said while placing the plates onto the tray.
Suddenly, she felt a bit empty, like she was just a bystander now She thought maybe she still needed to find a job to fill her days.
As she was lost in thought, Sharon spoke softly. “Ms. Johnson, it really makes me happy to see you back by Mr. Vanderbilt’s side after five years.”
Seraphina lifted her gaze, a faint smile tugging at her lips, but she didn’t respond. She wasn’t sure how to.
Sharon continued, “You know, Mr. Vanderbilt prepared a breakfast just like this five years ago. But that day, you didn’t stay to enjoy it.”
Seraphina froze, and her memory drifted back to five years ago
“To be able to reunite after so long is a blessing from above, Sharon said, her gaze full of warmth and hope, like an elder offering guidance. “I really hope you and Mr. Vanderbilt can cherish this hard–won bond.”
‘Cherish? Do I even have the right to think about that? Such words are meant for couples. Yes, we were lovers now, but do v truly share any real feelings?‘ Seraphina thought to herself.

Sharon seemed to sense Seraphina’s inner turmoil and gently squeezed her shoulder, her smile encouraging. “Ms. Johnson, you must believe that a man like Mr. Vanderbilt can have any gid he wants.”
She continued, “The fact that he’s still thinking about you after five years means you’ve made a mark on his heart. His feelings might seem unclear right now, but give him some time le’s never loved anyone before and doesn’t know how. Time will teach him what he’s missing in life. I hope you’ll be there to grow together with him.”
Sharon’s heartfelt words really struck a chord with Seraphina. Rat Seraphina asked herself inside Can Clarence and I truly grow together? Do I even deserve that? Does he bring me back just because I’m still on his mind?
Seraphina brewed herself a cup of coffee and headed upstairs to Clarence’s study. There, on his desk, sat a laptop. Looking at it, she couldn’t help but remember the one he’d given her five years ago, and how he’d rented a place for her to study for the SAT Those memories stirred up a warm nostalgia Overall, he hadn’t been so bad to her.
But if it hadn’t been for that photo incident with Catherine, would they still be together? Maybe they would have grown tired of each other by

947%,
After a moment’s hesitation, she sat down at the desk. A USB drive was plugged into the laptop–likely the study materials he wanted her to check out. She was curious about what was on
Seraphina powered it up, and the high–end machine booted up in no time.
Balancing her coffee in one hand and a wireless mouse in the other, she clicked on the USB drive. There were several video files, and she clicked on the first one while taking a sip of her coffee.
Suddenly, the screen came alive with the sound of a woman moaning. Seraphina’s eyes widened in shock and she nearly spilled her coffee. With her heart racing, she forced herself to swallow.
She complained inwardly. So this is what Clarence wants me to learn about? No wonder he mentioned to enjoy tonight. What a typical guy…
She couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it all and reached for the mouse to close the video, but then she found herself watching it longer… After all, women did have their curiosities..
Later in the afternoon, a truck from a high–end international brand pulled up at the villa, unloading a ton of clothes, shoes, and bags that filled Seraphina’s empty wardrobe.
Sharon tucked away the clothes she brought into a storage box.
“But I can still wear these. Seraphina protested, reluctant to let go. Some of the outfits were bought since she returned to Anguria, and she’d only worn them once.
Sharon chuckled softly and said, “Ms. Johnson, if you’re going to stay by Mr. Vanderbilt’s side, you need to wear the best of the best to match your new status,”
Seraphina was taken aback. Her current status was just that of a mistress. Yet, in the eyes of the world, being Clarence’s mistress came with a kind of glory that often overshadowed even a legitimate wife of others.
Sharon then pulled out a stunning white gown from the bag. Standing in the sunlight, the rhinestones on the gown sparkled. like colorful stars, dazzling to behold. The design was simple but exuded elegance, a testament to high–end craftsmanship,
“Ms. Johnson, you should try this on,” Sharon urged.
Seraphina blinked in surprise. “He wants me to wear a formal gown?”
“Absolutely, Sharon said with a smile. “Mr. Vanderbilt specifically requested you wear this. The driver will take you to your date with him soon. If you look stunning, Mr. Vanderbilt will be delighted”
Seraphina thought, “Just a regular date, and I have to wear a gown? Isn’t that a bit much?”
She couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed at the thought of having to dress so extravagantly for every outing.
Seeing her hesitation, Sharon reassured her. “Tonight is special for both you and Mr. Vanderbilt. So, it’s only right to look exquisite. He’s never gone to such lengths before.
Seraphina’s heart fluttered. Every girl would love to hear words like “first time“, “never before“, “you’re the one, and never again“. Even if she wasn’t sure how genuine it all was, at that moment, it felt warm and made her feel valued, especially when those words came from Sharon.
Seraphina felt a stir of emotions. Tonight wa
indeed special. It as her first significant date. So, why not dress to impress?
Sharon helped her slip into the gown, perfectly tailored to accentuate Seraphina’s graceful figure, making her look even more enchanting and delicate. With a few strands of her hair draping over her shoulder, her slightly protruding collarbone appeared even more fair and beautiful.
