Chapter15: I Won’t Allow Anyone to Belittle Her 

Chency noticed Damon’s good mood. “Big client?” 

“Yeah.” 

Chen asked, “How big? You look so happy.” 

Damon said, “If I win this case, I’m getting married.” 

Both Chency and the intern were stunned. Damon was known as an eligible bachelor. There 

ere even rumors that he was gay. 

His profession meant nobody dared play games with him; those who did ended up in court or jail. 

A buzz rippled through the room. What kind of client and case could prompt Damon to make such a decision? 

Evelyn received a call from 

Taylor Securities manager 

“I have sixty million to invest in the stock market.”

The manager was shocked.“Sixty million? Mrs. Reed, you may need to come to my office to open 

an account.” 

Evelyn and Lily went to Taylor Securities. Lily looked around curiously. Mr. Hank, the manager, led them to a private VIP room and processed the paperwork. Lily watched Evelyn negotiate the commission rate; it was a side of her mother she’d never seen. sharp, assertive, and commanding. 

Mr. Hank got the lowest commission rate in his career. 

‘Mrs. Reed, how do you want to allocate your funds?” 

Evelyn handed him

Mr. Hank glanced at the note. Seeing the stock codes, he immediately knew their recetir performance. His expression changed. You’re putting all sixty million into the market?

“Aren’t you considering other options?” 

“No.” 

Mr. Hank took a deep breath. “I’m warning you, the market is unstable. In a week, you might only have ten million left!” 

Evelyn smiled gently. In a week, these stocks are projected to rise by about 20 percent.” 

Mr. Hank laughed widely.“As long as you can handle a massive loss, that’s fine.” He just hoped she wouldn’t kill herself if it went south. 

As soon as Evelyn left, Mr. Hank called Damon.“Mr. Sterling, thank you for introducing me to a big client!” Before Damon could respond, he continued, “She’s putting sixty million into the stock. market. Is she crazy?” 

“She’s not crazy. You don’t know how brilliant she is.” Damon corrected him.“Of course, made mistakes in the past, but I won’t allow anyone to belittle her.” 

Mr. Hank scoffed.“In a week, you’ll know I’m right.” 

Damon said, “I’ll buy the stocks Evelyn invests in.”

Mr. Hank hesitated, but didn’t stop him. After all, he could earn a commission. After hanging up, Mr. Hank called Caleb’s assistant, who connected him to Caleb. “Evelyn put sixty million into the stock market?” Caleb stood on the top floor of a business. building, overlooking the sprawling cityscape. 

“Yes, sir. I warned her, but she insisted.” 

Caleb smirked. It seemed Evelyn’s return to the Reed family would be sooner than expected. A woman from a small town, even after seven years in high society, wouldn’t know how to manage that kind of money. She’d regret it within two weeks!

Evelyn arrived at her parents‘ place; dinner was ready. She needed to tell her parents about the divorce. 

After Lily changed clothes, she bumped into her parents. 

“Lily’s back!” Evelyn’s mother, Tiffany Hayes, was nestled in her father’s arms. Tiffany looked. young, but she was actually 46. Since Evelyn’s return, Tiffany had rarely left the house. She was always frail and childlike. Richard Hayes, in his fifties, was tall and strong, his face bearing the marks of time. 

“Dad, Mom.” Evelyn greeted them distantly. 

“I can’t believe you!” Richard scolded. 

Tiffany flinched, snuggling into Richard.“Richard, you scared me!” 

Richard focused on Tiffany, gently carrying her downstairs and seating her in a high chair. Evelyn sat opposite them with Lily. Tiffany had a baby bowl; she looked at Lily. “Why isn’t Lily using a baby bowl?” 

Lily picked up her chopsticks. “I’m growing up, the baby bowl isn’t too small for me.” Tiffany blinked, pouting at Richard. I’m the only baby here now.” 

Richard looked at her adoringly. “Tiffany is always my baby!” 

Evelyn ignored them. Her mother had been sheltered her whole life. Richard was her world, her very air. 

Savannah was already at the table. She showed Tiffany her bracelet. 

Evelyn remained unaffected. Lily, on the other hand, recognized it immediately. “Aunt Sav’s bracelet is similar to the one Dad bought Mommy.” 

Savannah had been waiting for this. “Oh, really? I didn’t notice.” 

Evelyn laughed. “I threw it away and you picked it up?” She turned to look at Lily.“Don’t do that. It’s dirty.”

“Lily, wash your hands!” Tiffany echoed. 

Savannah had planed show off, but it failed. 

“Caleb gave it to me!” Savannah declared triumphantly. “Evelyn, you’re divorced. You’re not mad hat
