Chapter21: Caleb, Do We Have to Be Enemies?
Lance got out of the SUV, his height and physique imposing. He had a strong build, his black t–shirt straining against his muscles.
“Give her to me,‘ he said to Damon, extending a hand.
Damon handed Lily to Lance, who turned to Evelyn, “Let’s go.”
Evelyn bid farewell to Damon and got into Lance’s vehicle. He buckled Lily into her car seat and, As he walked to the driver’s side, his cold gaze swept over Damon.
Damon ignored Lance, his gaze softening as he looked at Evelyn. “Drive safely.” His smile was polite but distant.
He watched the SUV drive away.
Lance glanced in the rearview mirror. “Who was that?”
“Professor Sterling’s son, Damon.”
Lance mused, “I saw him at your school before.”
Evelyn dismissed it.“He was probably visiting his father. She knew Damon wasn’t a Peking University student.
Lance recalled seeing a man in a black mask and cap near Evelyn’s classroom during his visits. The man was discreet, but Lance, a former soldier, was perceptive. He’d felt the man’s gaze on Evelyn.
“He’s a creep. Be careful,” Lance warned.Evelyn was rprised, finding it hard to reconcile the charming Damon with the word ‘creep.”
He changed the subject.“What are your plans now?” He knew about her divorce.
Lily woke up.
“Paddy’s bad, Uncle Damon’s good!”
Lance’s eyes widened. He stopped at a red light and turned around.
Lily blinked, confused. “Huh?!” She touched her ear.
Evelyn asked, “Lily, why did you say. that?”
Lily shook her head.“I think I had a dream. A voice said, ‘Daddy’s bad, Uncle Damon’s good.’ And Uncle Damon is nice!“She smiled sweetly at the memory of Damon.
Evelyn rubbed her cheek. “I didn’t expect Mr. Sterling to be so good with children.”
Lance said, “Dreams can be the opposite of reality. That Uncle Damon might be a bad guy.”
Evelyn recalled their time at the Sterling residence.“Even if Damon is bad, he’s a handsome bad guy, a beautiful creep.”
The next day, Evelyn and Lily went to Lance’s gym. She asked him to find Lily a boxing coach.
The young coach saw Lily and exclaimed, “She’s a girl?”
Lance growled, “My niece. Train her well!”
The coach squatted, observing Lily. “Boxing is hard work. Don’t cry.”

Lily, serious, replied, “I won’t cry!”
The coach grinned.“Let’s help your sister lose some weight.”
He held up a punching bag. “Hit it with all your might.”
“Coach, be careful!” Lily said sweetly. Before Evelyn could warn her to hold back, Lily punched the bag.
The coach flew backward, landing on the floor, stunned.
Coach, are you okay?” Lily rushed to his side.
felt himself lifted by a powerful force, coughing violently. Lily patted his back.
“Yue!” He vomited his breakfast onto the floor.
Lance scoffed, looking disgusted. Evelyn grabbed a mop to clean up.

Savannah watched the video, then laughed.
