Chapter 51: Luna’s Stunt, and a New Fanboy
The outcome of the race held little significance for Damon Blackwood. He wasn’t a professional driver; he was racing his “Black Hole” to honor the memory of his late sister, Willow.
Sitting in the passenger seat of the “Solar Flare,” Shane saw Luna staring intently at the Black Hole.
“What’s up?” he asked..
Luna blinked behind her helmet; Shane couldn’t see her expression.
don’t like that car,” she said, her voice barely a whisper.
Shane, ever the smooth talker, shrugged.“Win this race, and you get to choose three cars from Damon’s garage. You can even take the Black Hole and send it straight to the junkyard.”
Luna chuckled, the shadows lifting from her face. The memory of her first encounter with the Black Hole flooded back.In the Blackwood mansion’s garage, she’d been drawn to its sleek. lines.Finding the door unlocked, she’d slid into the driver’s seat, running her hand along the luxurious interior. Then Damon had yanked her out.
Pregnant with twins, she’d landed hard on the concrete floor.Damon stood over her, his imposing figure radiating icy disdain.
“Don’t dirty my car,” he’d snapped.
“Damon, I’m your wife….” she’d stammered, wanting to explain her passion for cars, her surprise at finding such a masterpiece in his garage. She’d hoped to connect with him over their shared interest.Seeing the Black Hole, she’d imagined it racing alongside her Solar Flare. She was his wife! What was wrong with sitting in his car?
“The Black Hole is worth far more than you are, Luna. Don’t ever touch it again!”
He’d slammed the door, walking away without offering a hand.A cold wave of rejection washed over her, as sharp as a knife. She’d struggled to her feet, her hand instinctively reaching for her Belly.
“I was reviewing the course,” she said, finally breaking the silence.“It’s incredibly complex, and it’s been six years since I’ve competed in an off–road race… “The years had dulled some instincts. Racing wasn’t like math; it was pure reaction, and a fraction of a second could mean the difference between victory and catastrophe.
“I’ll guide you through every turn, every bump. As long as I’m here, you won’t lose!” Shane said, securing his six–point harness. The starting lights flickered, the countdown ticking down. Luna’s gaze was locked ahead. The horn blared, and dozens of cars roared into action, at thundering wave of metal and adrenaline. The crowd erupted.
“Daddy! Go! Uncle Sean! Go!“Little Timmy waved his flag, cheering them on The Solar Flare surged forward. Before three seconds had passed, two cars were attempting to box them in, aiming to force them off the track. To avoid a collision, Luna had to react instantly. Inside the Black Hole,Sean leaned back, a smirk playing on his lips as he observed the aggressive maneuver. Rich kids playing games, utilizing tactics for an advantage Someone always has to be sacrificed.
Inside her helmet, Luna’s eyes showed no trace of fear. With a swift movement, she shifted gears. The right–side wheels lifted off the ground!

Shane’s widened. His heart hammered against his ribs.It was a drift, a lateral movement, at insane speed, the car tilted at a 45–degree angle.
The driver of one of the cars attempting the pass suddenly felt a dark shadow engulf them. They looked over to see the undercarriage of the Solar Flare, a monstrous black beast looming large. The tires spun menacingly close to their roof. They were trapped, a collision imminent.
“Holy shit! Oh God!!!”
my
The previously boisterous crowd gasped in unison. This was a stunt racing technique, unheard of in this type of off–road competition. What kind of skill allowed a driver to pull off such a move under pressure?
The sight of the Solar Flare’s audacious maneuver sent a shiver down Timmy’s spine. His eyes widened in awe and disbelief. He forgot his father and Sean were even in the race. passenger The car attempting to force the Solar Flare off the track slammed on the brakes. The saw the raised tires of the Solar Flare and the potential of being crushed. They were in, psychological battle, a contest of nerves, and in the face of death, they chickened out. They quickly backed off, giving the Solar Flare a clear path.
The two cars, now far behind, were shaken.
“Dude, you alright?”
“Man, I almost shit myself! The passenger was a trembling mess.
Timmy, still reeling from the spectacle, looked up at the giant screen, his eyes glued to the Solar
Flare.
This was Luna, the Queen of the Road! The skills of other professional drivers suddenly seemed insignificant.
He jumped up and down, joining the others in a roar: “Luna! Go Luna! Luna will win!!”
