Chapter 60
Jeremy said, “I had never met such an arrogant punk before. He actually thought he could mess with me? Fine, I’ll play along till the end. If I don’t ruin his future, my name isn’t… Wait, Clarry, she…
Jeremy’s words trailed off as he suddenly caught sight of Seraphina leaning against Clarence. His blood–smeared face twisted in a way that made him look terrifying.
After stammering “she several times, Jeremy swallowed hard and squeezed out a few words. “Clarry, she managed to seduce
you?
Clarence remained silent. As sharp as always, he quickly sensed the strangeness in the air. He smirked. His eyes were sharp. “Looks like we need to find a quiet place to chat.
Jeremy was at a loss for words.
That “quiet place turned out to be the bar’s office. Inside were just Clarence and Jeremy.
Clarence sat on the sofa, legs crossed, exuding an air of untouchable authority. Resting his chin on his hand, he listened silently as Jeremy poured out his complaints.
Jeremy said. “Clarry, look at me. I got beaten up like this. Clearly, I’m the victim here. I was wondering why that guy was so cocky. It turns out he is your lover’s brother.”
Clarence remained silent.
Jeremy added. “But Clarry, this. Isn’t this a bit unfair to Jeni?”
Clarence’s eyes turned cold. “Seems like your mouth isn’t swollen enough. Want me to fix that?”
Jeremy quickly pleaded, “Alright, that’s your business, not mine, and I swear I won’t tell Jeni. I mean, what man hasn’t had at few flings here and there! I get it, I get it–Ow!” He suddenly let out a howl of pain,
Without wanting to hear any more of Jeremy’s nonsense, Clarence kicked him hard. His tone was icy as he said, “If Thomas gets kicked off the national team, you’re finished too. And all the damages from the bar? It’s on your tab
Compared to Clarence, even as the son of the wealthiest man, Jeremy just couldn’t measure up in any way. He had told Seraphina this was what true power looked like and suggested she latch onto a wealthy man. She had certainly “exceeded his expectations” by grabbing onto the biggest fish in all of Angoria, What a load of fantasy, he thought..
The bar was a complete wreck, and the manager and the owner were on the verge of tears. Although they had some connections, they paled compared to Jeremy, especially with Clarence involved. They seemed to have to absorb hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages alone.
Seraphina sat quietly on the lounge chair, glancing at the office door every now and then. Lucia, sitting beside her, was playing on her phone.
Frank and Evelyn had already taken Barbara home since it was getting late, and it was only proper to ensure a girl got home safely.
After finishing a round of PUBG and closing her phone, Lucia turned her gaze toward Seraphina.
She sat quietly on the sofa, like a delicate orchid blooming in a secluded valley, radiating a serene beauty that quietly drew people in. She was stunning. Her soft elegance was easy on the eyes and effortlessly captivating, “Clarry has always liked girls who seem gentle and unassuming like you.”

Chapter 60
Seraphina looked up to find Lucia standing before her, arms crossed, staring down at her with a slight smirk,
“I’m Lucia Gissing, Clarence’s cousin. My thom’s his aunt, Lucia said, her tone friendly. “And you? What’s your name?”
Lucia carried herself with the pride of a true heiress, but it was off–putting. It felt like that air of superiority came naturally to her as if she were born to stand above it all.
But what impressed Seraphina the most was that, despite having a grudge against Thomas, Lucia had set it aside when it mattered most to defend him. It spoke to her kindness, and that alone earned Seraphina’s admiration.
Seraphina smiled softly. “My name is Seraphina Johnson.”
“What a delicate name. No wonder Clarry likes you.” Lucia chuckled, then let out a small sigh. “I always thought Clarry immune to romance. But in the end, you have come along and captured his heart. Sera, you’re quite something”
Lucia, already feeling familiar, called Seraphina by her nickname without hesitation.
Seraphina smiled slightly and murmured, “Clarence and me… It’s not what you think.”
“A fling, right?” Lucia smiled knowingly. “What’s true now doesn’t have to be true forever. Clarry doesn’t let just anyone into his life. So… She leaned in and gently patted Seraphina’s hand. You’re definitely special to him. Keep it up.”
Seraphina repeated Lucia’s words inwardly. Special to him….
At this moment, the office door opened, and Clarence stepped out first, with Jeremy trailing behind, looking utterly defeated
Seraphina stood up immediately.
Clarence walked over and, without thinking, pulled Seraphina into his arms with a reassuring smile. “It’s all sorted. Thomas won’t face any consequences. Jeremy started it, so Thomas was defending himself. The team won’t punish him, and they won’t report it to the national team.”
“Thank you.” Seraphina looked at Clarence tenderly.
Even though Jeremy had thrown the first punch, Thomas was still involved in a public brawl. He could’ve been kicked off the national team if things had been taken seriously. His future was saved by Clarence.
Seraphina felt deeply grateful, her eyes growing moist. Those shimmering eyes made anyone who saw them want to protect
her.
Clarence patted Seraphina’s shoulder. “He won’t have to pay for any of the damages to the bar.
Jeremy’s head sank even lower when he heard that. He thought. So, in the end, I shot myself in the foot?
Clarence insisted on taking Seraphina to the hospital to get her arm treated. It was just a minor scratch, and Seraphina didn’t think it was a big deal, but Clarence wouldn’t take no for an answer. Her flawless skin made the red mark stand out all the

Clarence gently ran his fingers over the wound and said with a hint of reproach, “A few days without seeing you, and you get yourself into all this trouble. I honestly don’t know how you made it through the last twenty–something years without me.”
Seraphina was speechless. She thought. It was just an accident, okay? Normally, I’m well–behaved and hardly ever go to places like bars. I only went tonight because Thomas was about to start months of national team training, and I wanted him to relax a bit. But Clarence’s gentle scolding had warmed her heart.
“Remember what the doctor said to avoid, Clarence said in his usual commanding tone. “If your arm scars, I’m done with

Seraphina pouted slightly, “Got it.”
Her playful expression stirred something in Clarence, and without warning, he pulled her closer and kissed a few days apart, it was as if he wanted to merge her into his very being
Slightly breathless, Clarence finally let Seraphina go, his eyes filled with desire. He had missed her more tha
