Clarence asked. “Let’s go back to the villa”
Seraphina hesitated. The feelings Clarence stirred within her were running wild. She wanted nothing more than to go back to the villa with him and lose herself in him. But Seraphina had come out with Thomas to unwind today, and they had to head home together. Disappearing on him wouldn’t be something she could easily explain to Shirley.

Just then, Clarence’s phone rang. He glanced at it. Jeremy was calling. He held the phone to his ear. “Still here?”
“About to board.” Jeremy’s tone was somewhat ingratiating “I just wanted to let you know that I’ve handled what you asked. Could you pass the message to Ms. Johnson for me?”
Clarence said nothing and hung up, turning to Seraphina. “Sweetheart, you just made a small fortune.”
“Huh?” Seraphina was confused.
With a mischievous smile, Clarence twirled a lock of her hair around his finger, looking both devilishly charming and powerful. “Your arm was hurt, and Jeremy deposited 30 thousand dollars to you as compensation. Go treat yourself to something nice.”
Seraphina thought, ‘A tiny scratch and 30 thousand dollars as compensation? Mr. Vanderbilt, you sure know how to make a bold demand.
Under the night sky, the car slowly drove away.
Thomas called.
Seraphina answered, “Tommy, you’re out of the police station?”
“Yeah,” Thomas replied, then fell silent for a while before speaking again. “How did things get resolved?”

Seth was stunned. But soon after, he patted his chest in relief and hugged Thomas joyfully. “Kid, you must be blessed. Who helped you! Whoever it was, they even managed to suppress Jeremy.”
After sending Seth off, Thomas immediately called Seraphina. Since she was the only one at the scene after he was taken away, he was sure she had something to do with his sudden release. He thought. But we don’t have the connections to take on someone like Jeremy. What kind of power could make him back down? His tone was full of doubt.

Seraphina thought. He is actually letting me touch his phone. She took it, found Lucia’s number, and dialed from her. phone.
Lucia answered quickly, her voice carrying its usual cool arrogance. “Hello?”
Seraphina said. “Ms. Gissing, it’s Seraphina.”
“Sera” Lucia sounded mildly surprised, but her tone softened. What’s the occasion for your call?”
Seraphina said, “Ms. Gissing, I need a favor from you.”
Lucia chuckled, “If you want my help, stop calling me Ms. Gissing. I call you Sera, don’t I?”
“Alright, Lucia. Seraphina relaxed a little. “Here’s the situation.
After the call ended, Seraphina handed the phone back to Clarence. They were close to the neighborhood by now, and she asked him to stop. Tll get out here. I don’t want Tommy to see me”
Clarence knew Seraphina didn’t want her family to find out and didn’t argue. He pulled over.
There were still people walking along the street, and the streetlights were on so Clarence could watch Seraphina as she walked toward the neighborhood entrance.
“Good night,” Seraphina said as she prepared to get out. After a moment’s thought, she leaned over and kissed Clarence on the cheek, adding. “Thank you for helping Tommy” She thought. Without you, his career would’ve been over
Clarence conveniently grabbed Seraphina’s wrist and pulled her gently into his arms. His deep gaze settled on her beautiful face, and in a low voice, he said, “Seraphina, you have to remember that in this world, I’m the only one who can save you. So, you’d better stay by my side, got it?”
Seraphina remained silent. Her eyes welled up at the warmth and possessiveness in his tone. She thought, For how long? A lifetime? That’s a luxury I can’t afford to hope for. As long as it lasts, I suppose. At least for now, he’s treating me well.
Seraphina replied with a gentle “Mm.” She pulled her wrist free when she spotted Thomas pacing at the entrance. “Tommy’s here. I should go
But Clarence didn’t let go. Seraphina made a questioning sound “Hm?”
Clarence didn’t respond. Instead, he fiddled his phone with his other hand, then took Seraphina’s hand and pressed her thumb to the screen. He was recording her fingerprint.

Once finished, Clarence finally released her hand, and he smiled slightly, “Alright, you can go now. I’ll watch until you’re
inside.”
Seraphina stared at him. “Why did you record my fingerprint?”
Clarence pinched Seraphina’s cheek lightly. “How could I fall for such a silly girl like you?”
Seraphina was stunned. Fall for. Those simple words melted into her heart like honey. She thought. If I can’t be his only one, being his favorite might be enough, right?
