Chapter 62
Thomas fiddled with his lighter. “So, are you going to tell me what happened? Sera, where did you pull the strings?”
“How could I have those kinds of connections?” Seraphina replied in a low voice. “Lucia was the one who helped you”
“Huh?” Thomas still didn’t know who Lucia was
Seraphina chuckled, “You know, the woman you offended? Her name is Lucia. Turns out, she’s Clarence Vanderbilt’s cousin You know who Clarence is, right?” She tried to sound casual as she mentioned his name.
Thomas gave a noncommittal grunt. Everyone in Angoria knew who Clarence was.
Seraphina said. “After the police took you away, I went to see Ms. Gissing and put in a word for you. She was willing to help when she saw you fighting with Jeremy, so I figured she wouldn’t want a small spat between you two to ruin your future.
“Initially. I asked her to talk Jeremy down, but I had no idea she was Clarence’s cousin. She called him, and he smoothed everything over.”
Thomas didn’t say anything. his eyes fixed on the nearby flower bed as the lighter clicked open and shut in his hand.
“Ms. Gissing is generous and kind. She didn’t hold a grudge over what happened and helped you instead. Seraphina patted Thomas hand gently. “You really should thank her. She saved your future. You are a man now, You’re not going to be about this, right? After all, tearing up her dress was a pretty bad move on your part–

get it. Thomas cut Seraphina off, standing up, one hand casually slipping into his pocket, his demeanor carefree. “I’ll take her out to dinner and thank her.”
“That’s more like it. Seraphina pulled out her phone. “Ill give you Lucia’s number. It’ll seem more sincere if you invite her yourself.
“Not now. It’s getting late. Tomorrow will do, Thomas said indifferently.
“Alright, Seraphina replied. Earlier, in the car, she had called Lucia, asking her to take credit for Clarence’s intervention. She couldn’t tell Thomas that Clarence had stepped in because of her, so letting Lucia take the spotlight seemed more appropriate. After all, as Clarence’s cousin, it made sense for Lucia to ask Clarence for such a favor.
Early the next morning, Seraphina returned to the villa,
Clarence had just returned from his workout, still in his athletic gear, his muscular arms firm and alluring, with a perfectly sculpted V–shaped torso. If he wasn’t the powerful CEO of Vanderbilt Group, his physique alone could easily have made him an international supermodel. He was a sight to behold.
Clarence walked over to Seraphina, bent down, and kissed her forehead. The air between them was filled with sweetness.
Seraphina smiled, “You haven’t had breakfast yet, right? Go freshen up, and I’ll meet you in the dining room. I picked up some sandwiches on the way. Want to have them together?”
“No.” Clarence stared at Seraphina and refused without hesitation.
Seraphina pouted, her lips soft and rosy. “I know you prefer oatmeal for breakfast, but these sandwiches are really good especially the tuma. I got them just for v
so you don’t want to at least try?”
“No.” Clarence refused again
Seraphina was speechless. She thought. Not even a little bit of appreciation, huh?“”
Seraphina felt a pang of disappointment, but Clarence suddenly scooped her up into his arms before she could dwell on it.

He smiled mischievously, his voice low and teasing, sending her heart racing. “Right now, I only want to eat you.”
Seraphina blushed, entirely at a loss for words.
Clarence carried Seraphina into the living room. It just so happened that the housekeepers were cleaning at that mome and they all saw him holding her like that. Embarrassed, Seraphina gently tapped his shoulder. “Put me down. People a watching.”
As expected, Clarence wouldn’t listen. Instead, he tightened his grip and carried Seraphina straight into the elevator.
Seraphina caught a glimpse of Sharon smiling in a low voice. Taking her back to their room at this hour–everyone kn
exactly what that meant. Even though intimacy between them was natural, having others know about it was still terribly embarrassing. Great, Seraphina thought, ‘Sharon’s definitely going to tease me about this later.
Three hours later, Clarence finally let Seraphina out of bed, though she could barely move. He had exhausted her completely. This insatiable wolf had fully collected the “reward” for those days of distance.
Breakfast was long overdue, so Seraphina decided to sleep a little more and skip straight to lunch.
By the time Seraphina woke up, it was nearly noon, and Clarence had already left. He never let their private life interfere with work. Despite the energy he had burned that morning, he still managed to head to the office full of vigor.
Seraphina wondered, ‘How does he do it? She sat up in bed, still feeling a trace of the fatigue in her body.
The room was dimly lit. All three layers of curtains had been drawn, blocking out the daylight. Seraphina thought. No wonder I slept so well. She distinctly remembered pulling just the sheer curtain closed, but Clarence must have pulled the blackout curtains for her before leaving, ensuring the light wouldn’t disturb her sleep.
He really is thoughtful Seraphina smiled sweetly. She and Clarence seemed closer after the cold treatment and last night”
events.
After getting up, freshening up, and having lunch, Seraphina rested for a while. She found Lucia’s number, intending to send it to Thomas, but just before she could, a WhatsApp message from Jennifer popped up. [Sweetie, let’s hit the gym.]
Still drained from the energy Clarence had sapped in the morning, Seraphina felt too lazy and worn out to even think abo working out. She replied: (Tomorrow.]
Jennifer quickly messaged back: [Then it’ll have to be ten days later.]
Seraphina asked: [Why?
Jennifer responded: I have to go back to Sorelia tomorrow to take care of some family business, and then I’m flying to Aurelian for a week on a business trip. So, it’ll be ten days before we can meet again.
Seraphina typed. (Alright, I’ll wait for you to get back.]
Jennifer texted: I’ll bring you a gift)
Seraphina texted back: [Mwah.]
After chatting a bit more, they wrapped up their conversation
Jennifer was another warm–hearted heiress, and Seraphina truly felt lucky to have her as a friend. She used to have a bit of a bias against girls from wealthy families, assuming they were all arrogant and full of themselves.
However, Seraphina’s view changed after getting to know Jennifer and Lucia. Not every heiress was high–handed and overbearing. She was grateful that the people she had met treated her so kindly
Seraphina sent Lucia’s phone number to Thomas, along with a message: Don’t be too harsh with your words. Remember,
