Chapter 68
“Alright, Barb, let’s eat something else.” Seraphina tugged at Barbara’s arm as she noticed a few people starting to stare.
this is to a foodie like me. Not being able to eat what
Barbara was frustrated. “Sera, you have no idea what a crushing blow th I’m craving is pure torture–”
“Hey there, Miss. A voice suddenly cut Barbara off.
Both of them turned to look.
Seraphina froze. The person who had called out to her was none other than Kemp.
Kemp walked over with a big smile. “Miss, what are you doing here? Come to watch us film?”
“Hello, Mr. Gissing Seraphina chuckled. “I came with my friend to eat at this restaurant, but it’s blocked off for filming. Wait… Are you guys the ones shooting here?” She suddenly remembered Kemp was a director.
ght, it’s us filming here. Kemp said, and his eyes suddenly lit up. You want to eat, right? No problem. Come inside
That’s with me, but there’s one little condition.
“What is it?” Seraphina asked.
www
Kemp grinned mischievously, like a child with a secret. “You’re such a pretty little thing. How about making a quick appearance in my movie?”
“Acting Seraphina shook her head. Tm no good at that, Mr. Gissing
“It’s nothing big, really. You and your friend just need to sit at the table beside the leads and eat. We call it being an extra,” Kemp chuckled. I just want to give you a little screen time in my film. How about it? It’s not too much to ask, right?”
Kemp was so polite, so Seraphina felt refusing would be rude. “Alright then, she smiled. “So many people would kill for a chance to appear in one of your films, Mr. Gissing. I’m lucky to have this opportunity
“Great” Kemp waved over the girl who had been guarding the entrance. “Lisa, come here. Take them inside and seat them at the table next to the leads.
After giving the instructions, Kemp turned to Seraphina again. Miss, I’ll tell the cameraman to give you a few extra shots,”
Seraphina replied, “Thank you, Mr. Gissing”
“Go on now,” Kemp said with a friendly wave.
Seraphina and Barbara followed Lisa into the restaurant.
Barbara clicked her tongue in approval. “Sera, Jook at you. You even knew the director! You’d be one lucky girl if you become famous from just one shot in this film.”
Seraphina shook her head. “I’m not interested in acting”
“With your looks, not joining the entertainment industry is a real loss.” Barbara glanced around the room. Some familiar actors were getting their makeup done, but none seemed like the leads. She muttered, “I wonder who the male and female
leads are:
Seraphina said, “We’ll find out soon enough.
Lisa led them to a restaurant corner and pointed to their seats. You two can sit liere‘

They sat down.
Lisa waved over a waiter. “Make them two steaks and serve the food when the cameras start rolling.”
“Got it.” The waiter nodded and left.
Lisa turned back to them and added, “Just eat normally. The only thing you need to remember is not to look at the camera.”
“Got it. Easy,” Barbara replied confidently, After Lisa left, her eyes sparkled with excitement. “Who would’ve thought we came for a meal and ended up in a movie. By the way, that director looked so familiar, but I can’t quite place him.”
“That’s the famous director Kemp Gissing, Seraphina explained. He’s launched a lot of new stars. Aren’t you the one who knows all about the entertainment industry?
Barbara froze, her expression shifting slightly as a thought crossed her mind. “Kemp… No wonder I thought he looked a lot like Frank.”
“Of course, they look alike. They’re father and son, Seraphina replied.
“Could this be the new movie Frank is starring in?” Barbara covered her mouth, a bit excited. She thought, ‘Does this mean
get to see Frank later?
ILT
It’s possible. Seraphina’s expression subtly changed too. She thought. The female lead in that movie is Catherine. And here we are, sitting right next to the main cast. If Catherine shows up, there’s no way she won’t notice me!
Just as Seraphina was thinking that, a group of crew members started making their way over..
The male and female leads shone brightly in the crowd, their charisma unmistakable: Fans waiting outside the restaurant to catch a glimpse of their idols could be heard faintly screaming and chanting, “Catherine!” and “Frank!”
Catherine wore a white dress, pure as snow, making her stand out effortlessly in the crowd. Beside her was Frank, tall and handsome. Though it was his first film, his presence was already commanding.
The crew escorted the two to their positions.
Seraphina and Barbara were seated beside them, with only a narrow aisle separating the tables. Naturally, Catherine noticed them right away. A flicker of surprise flashed through her eyes, but she quickly masked it with a gentle smile. She took the initiative and greeted Seraphina. “Ms. Johnson, what brings you here? Are you an extra?”
The last part seemed casual enough, but Seraphina could hear the subtle sarcasm in Catherine’s tone.
Before Seraphina could respond, Kemp appeared, saying, “That’s right, She’s helping me out with a small favor.” He then looked at Catherine and asked, “Oh, you two know each other?
Catherine immediately caught the underlying meaning in Kemp’s words, and whatever snide remarks she had planned to make quickly died in her throat. It was clear Kemp knew Seraphina. Since that was the case, Catherine decided not to risk offending him.
Kemp was Marilyn’s sister’s husband, and the last thing she wanted was for word to get back to Marilyn that she had made a
scene.
Catherine chuckled, her tone even more gentle. “Yes, I didn’t expect Ms. Johnson to know Mr. Gissing. I guess Angoria really as too small. Friends are everywhere.”
Seraphina thought, Friends? Me and her?”
However, since Catherine was polite, Seraphina saw no need to create unnecessary tension. After a couple of lukewarm exchanges. Catherine sat, ready to begin filming.

As Catherine turned away, a glint of coldness flashed in her eyes. After a moment, she pulled out her phone and sent a message in WhatsApp to Clarence: [Clarry, I’m filming at Fine Taste. I’m so close to you. Do you want to stop by and visit
me?]
Clarence didn’t reply immediately.
“Get ready. We’re about to start, the assistant director called out
Catherine exited WhatsApp.
Frank, knowing the connection between Seraphina and Clarence gave Seraphina a small, polite smile as a simple greeting. But when it came to Barbara, he didn’t acknowledge her at all.
Barbara had no choice but to take the initiative. “Hi, Frank.”
Frank, who was just about to sit down, glanced in Barbara’s direction.
Barbara smiled and waved at him. “Good luck.”
Frank nodded slightly and returned a faint, courteous smile. His expression was distant as if he were just acknowledging a random fan. There was no hint of recognition in his eyes.
Barbara’s smile faltered. She thought, ‘He doesn’t remember me That night, he drove me home. When I got out of the car. 1 even said goodbye. He smiled back at me, and we locked eyes. Ho
