Chapter 105: He Needs to Carry Her
Evelyn’s chest heaved; each breath felt like a knife in her nostrils. The metallic taste of blood spread in her mouth and throat. She stood on a wider part of the embankment, remaining silent to avoid revealing her location to Savannah. Carefully, she lowered Alex to the ground; her arm was numb from holding him. Finding a stable spot, Alex pressed the emergency button on his smartwatch. He then patted Evelyn’s hand, reassuring her that help was coming.
Eive minutes later, the teacher arrived with four medical personnel. Tommy noticed they only had one stretcher. He’d only told them about Savannah; this was right. He would get them to help Savannah first, and then ask them to find Evelyn and Alex. This would teach his pretentious mother a lesson. She’d recklessly rushed down the slope to save Alex; let her be reckless! Let them stay at the bottom!
The teacher saw Savannah and exclaimed, “Ms. Hayes, this is a restricted area! How did you get in here?”
Savannah snapped,“How was I supposed to know? There were no signs or barriers. The teacher looked around. They’d checked the restricted areas the previous day and placed warning signs, but they were gone.
Caleb arrived, seeing a bright red scarf lying near Savannah. A long skid mark was visible on the embankment below her. As the medical personnel reached for her, Savannah cried out.
“Caleb!” She looked distraught, extending her hand to Caleb.
The teacher rolled her eyes. With medical professionals present, Savannah was acting like it was a drama? And Caleb fell for it.
He took her hand and pulled her up. As the medical personnel tried to lift her onto the stretcher, she screamed again.
“Let Caleb carry me.”
The teacher’s eyes widened.“Does Mr. Reed possess superhuman abilities? Just his touch will cure you?”
Savannah couldn’t hide the smug look in her eyes; the teacher was jealous.“Caleb feels sorry for me. He’ll carry me, and it won’t hurt.”
Caleb asked, “How did you fall?”
Savannah had a ready answer.“I was helping Tommy pick mushrooms and shipped.”
The teacher asked, “What kind of mushroom would cause you to slip?”
Savannah blurted out, “It was on the slope.”
The teacher’s face hardened. “Impossible! For the children’s safety, we placed the mushrooms in easy–to–reach spots. There aren’t any mushrooms on the restricted slope!”
Savannah’s heart skipped a beat; she glared at the teacher.“What do you mean? I’m injured, are you saying I’m lying? Trying to shirk responsibility?”
Tommy couldn’t help but glance downwards. He’d tell his father about his pretentious mother
later.
The teacher didn’t want to argue with an injured person.“Ms. Hayes, the school will investigate

this.”
“You think I’m lying?” Savannah slapped the teacher. The teacher was stunned. This woman was so uncouth!
“Savannah!” Caleb reprimanded her.
Savannah looked up, angrily asking, “Why are you yelling at me? Don’t you consider me a friend?” The teacher shut her mouth. Don’t argue with a fool; they’ll drag you down to their level. Savannah angrily punched Caleb’s leg.“Your father was slandered, why aren’t you defending me?”

Savannah felt the throbbing pain. She wanted to tell Caleb it was Evelyn, knowing he would punish her. But she had to conceal Evelyn’s existence. Evelyn and the mute were probably dead after falling into the bushes.

A cold smirk played on her lips. Eliminating Alex would cripple Eric, giving Caleb more power, and removing a competitor for her future children with Caleb. Removing Evelyn meant

Caleb frowned. He heard footsteps behind him. A group of men in park uniforms ran towards them. They were clearly
plainclothes officers! park staff; they not Plainclothes officers here could only mean one thing – Eric had assigned security detail for Alex’s outdoor activities. Did Alex encounter danger?
Following the officers was Frank. Seeing them suddenly mobilize, he suspected Alex was in trouble. Knowing Alex was with Evelyn, and unable to reach her, he left Lily with the teacher and followed them.
The teacher, mistaking them for park staff, said, “Ms. Hayes is fine; she fell in a restricted area.”
The officers ignored Savannah, one of them using his phone to locate Alex.“The young master should be down there!”
Savannah and Tommy’s hearts leaped. Were they looking for Alex?
“No one’s down there!” Tommy yelled.
