Chapter 106: The Man Who Taught Her About Love
Tommy’s denial was worse than saying nothing at all. Savannah mentally facepalmed. Idiot!
Frank approached Tommy, his shadow looming over the small boy. Tommy looked up, feeling crushed.
“Why would you say no one was down there?”
Tommy couldn’t meet Frank’s gaze, his shoulders trembling. He felt frozen, his mind blank.
What are you hiding?” Frank’s sharp eyes sensed something was wrong.
“Dad!” Terrified, Tommy whimpered, hiding behind Caleb.
Caleb’s face was cold; he saw his son was lying. The officers secured ropes and jumped down the slope with Frank. They moved with agility, navigating
navigating the slope easily.
Frank parted the thick bushes. Seeing Frank Evelyn’s face lit up.
“Ge!” She’d felt her phone vibrate, but couldn’t answer it while clinging to the rocks. But she knew Frank would act if they didn’t return to camp.
“Young Master!” The officers quickly secured Alex with a rope. He tugged on Evelyn’s sleeve, urging them to save her first.
“Alex, don’t worry, there are many people here to rescue us, I’ll go up with you,” she said, handing him to the officers before Frank secured her with a rope.

hit her. Dust and leaves clung to her clothes.
“How did you end up down there?!” Caleb asked.
Ignoring him, Evelyn saw Savannah on the stretcher. Her eyes were cold. Picking up a stone, she rose and threw it at Savannah!
“Aah!”
Savannah screamed, shielding her head. Caleb
intercepted the stone.
“Are you crazy?” he yelled, his eyes warning her.
Evelyn sneered, “She did this to me, so I’m doing it back!”
Caleb dropped the stone.“Can you stop acting up?”
Evelyn smiled.“Why don’t you ask how I fell?”
Caleb gave her a cold look.“I’m not interested in how you fell.”
Evelyn’s smile deepened.“You already guessed Savannah was involved, so you’re not interested in the details. After all, you’ve always indulged her!”
Her voice pierced Caleb’s heart.“You don’t pamper her; she’s your weapon. You use her to do the things you won’t, and you benefit. You

her actions.”
She ripped away his mask. “When you found out Alex was also there, your first reaction wasn’t to investigate, but to cover it up to avoid angering Eric.”
He didn’t let her finish. Seeing Evelyn injured, he felt irritated. He glanced at Savannah, then asked Evelyn,“Are you saying Savannah pushed you and Alex?”
“Yes!”

“Neither of you were hurt, right?” Caleb’s voice was calm. If there were no injuries, there was nothing to pursue.
Evelyn looked at him. The sunlight was bright, yet a chasm separated them. Only she and Savannah looked disheveled. Luckily, Frank had taught her self–defense; she’d protected herself and Alex during the fall. Savannah looked worse. Caleb protectively stood before Savannah, despite knowing she was the culprit.
Evelyn! The Reed family will fully fund your education; study hard!” Mr. White had excitedly
nounced.
Confused, she asked, “The Reed family? Mr. Reed?”
“Not the Academician, but Caleb, the heir, his nephew.” He continued, “Caleb heard about you and offered to pay for your undergraduate studies, plus a monthly allowance. His only requirement is that you maintain top marks.”
She obtained Caleb’s work email. To express her gratitude, she only sent holiday greetings. He Occasionally replied, inquiring about her needs; she politely replied that she was doing well with Reed Corporation’s support.

A heavy snowfall trapped her in a traffic jam as her father’s condition worsened. She called Richard, but he was helpless. Frank and Eric were out of town. She called Caleb.
He said, “Wait for me in the car, don’t be afraid.”
He arrived in a large SUV with snow chains, escorted by mounted police. He carried her father to the car.
“Mr. Reed, take my father to the hospital first.”

He scooped her up and put her in the car, draping a long coat over her shoulders. His hair was dusted with snow, yet he ignited a flame in her heart.
But that fire eventually died down. The man who taught her about love had taught her not to trust it again.
