Dominick said, “Mr. Dawson, we’re here to buy out Dawson International.”
Cameron’s face showed a flicker of struggle. He shot Nathan a cold glare, “You’ve been plotting to acquire Dawson International for a while, haven’t you?”
Nathan nodded, straightforward as ever. “Yep. Ever since I first got into business, taking over Dawson International has been my goal.”
Cameron was taken aback for a moment..
“Why? Is it because of her?”
Nathan shook his head. “Nope, not at all. I trust Nathalie. She’ll move on from you soon enough. Since she’s already lost interest, there’s no reason for me to make things tough for you.”
Cameron’s expression soured. “If it’s not because of her, then why are you so hell–bent on taking me down?”
Nathan replied, “I want to be at the top. Anything in my way has to be kicked aside.”
Cameron was completely floored.
Nathan’s ambition was staggering.
This young man, nearly a generation younger, was aiming even higher.
“And what if I refuse to sell?”
Nathan gave Dominick Ford a nod.
Ford stepped up, speaking with flair, “Mr. Dawson, Dawson International is drowning in debt–123.5 billion. The only parts still making money are the old–school sectors like clothing factories and construction. Everything else is bleeding cash. Dawson International has already let go of most of the high–paid staff in other departments, leaving only a few folks to handle what’s left.”
Dominick chimed in, “Mr. Dawson, aren’t you curious why the once–buzzing departments suddenly started tanking, while the struggling traditional sectors are still ticking along?”
A light bulb went off for Cameron: “Did you guys deliberately sabotage Dawson International’s new ventures?”
Dominick snapped his fingers, “Bingo. You got it.”
Ford continued, “Right now, all of Dawson International’s top tech and elite employees have jumped ship to Maple Company, getting Souble the pay. Dawson International’s chance to rise again in East Woods is gone. As for your traditional sectors, my granddad plans to set up a company just for the fun of it for Nathalie. Mr. Dawson, having lost to Nathalie before, the road ahead might be even more dicey. Isn’t it better to sell now, pocket a nice chunk of cash, and live the good life?”
Cameron shivered.
He had hoped to secure funds to pull Dawson International through the storm, but Nathan had swooped in and taken all his key people Even with money, he’d have no one left to run the show.
The dream of a comeback in East Woods was just that–a dream.
“Cameron, do you want Dawson International to end up as an empty shell, or would you rather use this chance to secure your retirement? Even a fool can see the clear choice.”
Cameron was in a bind. “Sorry, I need some time to think this through.”
Dominick coolly said, “Mr. Dawson, if you can’t make up your mind, you’ll lose the chance to partner with Maple Company forever. We at Maple Company can’t stand folks who aren’t true to their word.”
As Dominick finished, Nathan and Ford were already heading out.
Cameron, being a savvy businessman, knew how to protect his best interests.
“Hold on, I agree to the original acquisition plan.” Cameron looked weary, his face marked by time.
Dominick turned back. “Alright, let’s give you another shot.”
The contract was signed without a hitch.
Maple Company ended up merging with almost half of Dawson International.
This bold move sent Maple Company’s reputation through the roof.
