Chapter 6
My father was overjoyed about my return. He immediately insisted on throwing a party in my honor, planning to publicly announce my identity to everyone.
I agreed, because I don’t want to let him down.
On the day of the party, the ballroom was filled with prominent business figures. I was bored and hid in the side, still unaccustomed to such grand social gatherings.
That’s when I ran into Wade and Trevor.
Of course, they weren’t there for me. They were looking for my father, desperate to secure an
investment.
Wade and Trevor were surprised when they saw me. But it quickly turned to indignation as they cornered me, starting accusing me.
“Aurora, why did you block us?” Wade snapped. “Are you feeling guilty about sabotaging the
investment?”
“Since you caused this mess,” Trevor added, “you can fix it. When Mr. Johnson arrives, you’ll talk to him and get the deal back on track. Then we’ll forgive you.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at their audacity. The sheer entitlement in their tone was almost comical.
“And who gives you the right to order me around?” I asked, my voice calm but cutting. I gestured toward Freya. “Why not let her handle it? Oh, I see–when something goes wrong, you come to blame me. But when there’s credit to claim, it’s all hers. That’s pretty shameless, isn’t it?”
Hearing my word, Freya wryly smiled and pretended to be aggrieved, “Aurora, I’ve tried so hard to contact Mr. Johnson these past few days, but I haven’t even managed to meet him. I can’t serve other man like you did. Please, for the sake of your friendship with Wade and Trevor, help us out.”
Her words were perfectly measured, artfully designed to paint herself as the victim while shifting the blame onto me. I almost had to admire her. No wonder Wade and Trevor were so easily
manipulated.
Trevor nodded eagerly. “That’s right, Aurora. Stop being so petty. This company belongs to all three of us. If you can solve this, you should it.”
whatever you can,” Wade added. “If the company collapses without this investment, we’ll never

forgive you.”
Their ridiculous logic made me laugh out loud. “You’ll never forgive me…” I paused, then continue.
“Does that matters to me?”
Freya quickly jumped in, her voice syrupy sweet. “Aurora, If you can bring back the investment, I’m sure Wade and Trevor will forgive you.”
I snorted. “Investment? I don’t need to bring anything back. I’m the investor. So just kuck off! Your forgiveness means absolutely nothing to me.”
I turned to leave, but Trevor stopped in front of me.
What do you mean, you’re the investor?” he asked. “We know everything of you. Where would you get that kind of money? Unless…” His expression darkened. “Was it that man? Aurora, you bitch, getting involved with someone like that for money?”
Wade’s face twisted with disgust. “Aurora, How could you do something so filthy?”
“Aurora, did you really make that kind of sacrifice, ah?” Freya gasped theatrically. “That older man… was it true?”
“You guys dare to slander my daughter one more word, and I’ll see you in court for defamation,” came a firm, authoritative voice from behind me.
“Dad,” I said, which leaving Wade and Trevor frozen in shock.
Freya was the first to recover. “Aurora,” she sneered, “you can’t mean… he’s your…”
