Chapter 19
Ares & Eros’s POV
Dinner could not have ended any quicker than it should’ve as it was now approaching 8:30pm when everyone was beginning to finish up with dessert, my eyes continuing to watch the door that our mate had left through only minutes before, fighting the urge to chase after her.
“Dam it” I growled, not liking the fact she had yet to return after excusing herself from the Alpha’s table.
“Mate in trouble, Mate needs us‘ whines Zeus who was feeling on edge, not liking the fact that the
Future Beta, Gamma and Delta had all but followed her when we could not.
“Trouble?” I ask, wanting to make sure that he truly meant it, an uneasy feeling washing over me as well as I move to glance at Eros who also nods, the rest of our group nodding to confirm theirs. as well which gives me all I need as I quickly move to stand not wanting to stay and mingle with
all the others when our mate needed us.
“What the fuck is going on?” growls Eros just as we move to exit the dining hall only to be stopped by a voice, indicating that someone had approached us during our haste to leave.
“Alpha Moonheart’s, did you all enjoy dinner?” asks the Beta, Beta Collin as he appears next to us.
“Yes, dinner was wonderful thanks, but please if you’ll excuse me, me and my brother are hoping to find someone” replies Eros, hoping that Collin would leave them alone so they could search for the missing girl, her scent now faint with all hope of tracking her.
“Oh? Maybe I can help you” asks Collin, his gaze neutral.
“If you must know, we are looking for a girl” answers Kai, trying to keep things simple and straight to the point.
“A girl? What kind of girl? As I’m sure you’re both aware there are plenty of women here” chuckles Collin, his voice holding a musing tone to it.
“And we are, but no, we are not looking for these girls” I snap. “We were looking for the one who
was sitting at the Alpha’s table, the one who left abruptly.“At the mention of Athena does Collin’s facial expression change, changing from one of humor to one of a tight lip as if she was the last person he had wanted to speak about to anyone.
“Ah yes, unfortunately she had to leave rather quickly, for she was not feeling well this evening” admits Collin, who was all but trying to keep his composure.

“I see, well is there anyway that we might be able to see her?” I ask, noticing how he reacted to
her.
“No, I’m afraid not, She’s specifically asked not to be disturbed for the rest of the night” comes Collin’s reply as if he was trying to stay calm over the whole Athena scenario.
“Really? How can you be so sure about this when we clearly saw the Future Beta, Delta and Gamma all leave with her, and yet you sit here and say that she doesn’t wish to be disturbed” asks Seth, who clearly wasn’t buying what he had to say at all.
“As yes, well you see, my son and his friends were just making sure she made it home safely, that’s all” replies Collin who was trying to avoid anything else pertaining to Athena.
‘He’s lying‘ growls Deimos, not liking Collin at all.
‘I know, I can sense it. He’s clearly covering for his son, which tells me they did something way worse than just escorting her home‘ replies Eros to his wolf, his gaze never leaving Collins.
Just then Collin moves to gaze behind the group just as Brian and his friends had walked in, each. of them looking disheveled as they did. “Ah there they are, see I told you that’s all they did, so please do not worry.”
‘Mate‘ growled Zeus, as he tried to take control of Ares who was also trying his best to hold him back as they noticed them returning all the while smelling like their mate.
‘Easy there‘ I say trying to stay in control. ‘We can’t fight other pack members just because we
can‘.
‘NO… they hurt mate, they touched mate‘ roars Zeus who knew they had done something to her, roars Zeus who knew they had done something to her, he just couldn’t figure it out without accusing them of having sex with her even though he could smell it all over them.
‘Look, I know you’re pissed, I am too but trying to start a fight with them won’t help us find her. We need to remain calm if we want answers, I remind him, hoping it would work on him.
At the sound of growling, I knew I had won because Zeus knew that starting a fight would not only be bad but it would lead to a whole lot of questions, questions we could not answer especially since we had yet to officially meet her let alone claim her as our mate.
Once satisfied that Zeus would not take over, I moved to focus my attention back on Collin who had seemed to be talking with son before turning his attention back over to us. “I’ve spoken with my son and my son tells me that the girl is fine and is currently resting. Now then, if all goes well. tonight, you’ll be able to see her in the morning” remarks Collin before moving to leave, leaving

no room for discussion as he turns to walk away along with his son and his friends.
“Well, that was… odd” whispers Sam, once we were sure we were alone not wanting to offend anyone who could possibly hear.
“You’re telling me” I mutter, now worried for our mate as a sense of dread begins to rise from within as if something had truly happened to her and we were unable to find out.

“I wouldn’t just say odd, but didn’t any of you think that it was only a tiny bit strange that he never once addressed her by name, nor even told us who she was when we spoke earlier? It was almost like he didn’t want people to know who she was let alone speak with her” adds Eros, who
had also been self aware of Collins behavior earlier.
“Your right” muses Emma, who had also noticed that unaware we had someone watching us. “I
wonder why?”
“I know why” says a voice causing us to turn. At the sound of the new voice we can’t help but
move to look, only to notice that it belonged to a woman.
“You know what?” I ask her, wanting to know what it was she knew.
“I know who the girl is, but I will not say who she is while standing here” answers the voice, her eyes watching us as if trying to decide if we were trustworthy in knowing.
“Then how about coming to our room?” suggests Eros who also wanted to know.
“That could be arranged” is all she says before moving to leave only to pause when Emily calls out
to her. “What is your name?”
“Maya” and with that she turns to leave, going back to her duties before being punished for talking with the guests while the rest of us decide on heading back to the room to wait for her
return.
