35: The Victim Confessed
AIDAN
‘How do I plead to this charge?”
Outright comical.
Collin was out of his goddamn mind to think that he had me in a chokehold by his question. He was even more stupid than I thought he was if he believed that his little show of power from the woods last evening was what brought me here.
After my run yesterday, I was steaming with fury. I got back to the hotel suite and Jace was still there, and I asked him to do some digging on the girl from the woods.
Turns out that my thoughts about her were right, and she was just collateral damage in Collin’s games.
Her parents, who were currently locked up somewhere in Collin‘ s pack, were indebted to him, and the young girl was left with no other choice than to offer herself up to pay him back..
Her being in the woods right about the time I was there was one of Collin’s ways of getting his debt paid, but the Collin that I knew was not going to let any of them go that easily.
And these were the people he called his own?
People who he treated like puppets?
This was the pack I wanted Nadia and her mother to live in?

HELL NO!
What got me even more annoyed was the fact that when I last laid eyes on the young girl, these bruises weren’t on her face.
The thought of it alone pissed me right the heck off that in a bid to make his fallacy sound more believable, Collin did the same thing he accused me of to the girl..
Jace and I formed our plan after that, but in truth, Collin did it for us. The fucker dug his own grave with his hands without him. knowing it.
“Aidan Graham,” Collin raised his voice. “You were asked a question, and it would be in your interest to answer. You are being given a chance to determine your fate, so if I were you, I would think about my next words very carefully. How do you plead to physically assaulting a pack member of mine?” Collin asked.
In a heartbeat, I replied.
“Not guilty,” I said with a threatening smile, trying so hard to hold in my laughter and my anger.
Gasps erupted from the crowd behind us, but that wasn’t my
concern.
“We have proof,” Collin barked, pointing to the girl for everybody to see. “Undeniable proof that you struck her multiple times, and yet you plead not guilty? Do you think we are idiots here, Aidan?”
I formed fists with my hands to keep myself from strangling Collin. He was well on his way to believing his own lies.

“The only tangible information you have is that someone hit her,” I said pointedly to Collin. “You decided that it was me, and that is what you call your proof. Where is the evidence that showed that I actually did it? Do you have my DNA on her? A witness? A weapon? Anything?” I questioned calmly.
Whispers of agreement rose from the crowd behind me, and Collin shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
“The victim confessed to me!” Collin barked, regaining his grip on his lies. “She told me that she was out on a run, and your attacked her.”
I cut him off. “But didn’t you ask why? Ask what the motive for the action was? Because I genuinely can’t figure it out, Collin. Shouldn’t that be in the line of questioning for this trial?” I said with a hint of mockery in my tone.
Collin’s personal enmity with me was clouding his judgment and actions, and all I felt for him at this point was pity.
“Are you then saying that we are lying? That this poor victim here is lying?” Collin asked with faux outrage.
“Why don’t we find out,” I said with a smirk.
I turned to the young girl who was still bleeding from the deep cuts on her face, and I could tell that she was either an omega or Collin went as far as subduing her werewolf ability to heal.
When we were in the woods, I was almost getting her to open up to me. With a little more assurance, I was certain I could get her to tell the truth.
I spoke to her as calmly as I could amid the disorderliness.

“He doesn’t care about you, love. You know it, I know it, and he knows it. All you are to him is a disposable pawn in his game, and the moment he doesn’t find you any more useful, he will replace you with a snap of his fingers. I say this with no intention to hurt you, love. Let me help you.”
“Shut up!” Collin barked, and the young girl flinched in fear.
I went on. “Not only will he replace you, but he will also not give back all he took from you, and you will be left with nothing.”
Giving her a few seconds to understand what my words meant, I watched as shock showed in her eyes upon realizing that I knew about her parents.
She shook her head in disbelief, and she spun around to face Collin.
“You promised to release my parents if I did this,” she said, and gasps and echoes of “what??” sounded from the crowd behind
- us.
“What the hell are you talking about?” Collin barked as he shot up to his feet in an attempt to intimidate the girl.
Luckily, she wasn’t scared of him enough to back down. She was seeing him for the snake that he was.
“You told me that if I framed him for hitting me, you would let my parents go! You forced–me to take a beating, just so everyone would believe that he did it, and you aren’t going to let them go after that too?” She yelled, tears running down her face and over her cuts.
Collin’s composure snapped, and he pushed her out of the way

with one hand as he stormed to where I stood, fuming.
I didn’t move an inch, but instead, I allowed Collin to show his true colors for the entire world to see.
He spat in my face.
“You bastard! You fucking crook! I warned you to stay away from my pack but you will never listen. I tried to make you leave, but like the parasite that you are, you will not back off till the other party is left with nothing,” he thundered. “Since you are so stubborn and itching for your demise, I will gladly give it to you.”
With a growl, Collin shoved me back with both of his palms to my chest, but I stood my ground, my own growl coming off more pissed off.
“Go on,” I dared him softly.
Collin spoke again. “I, Alpha Collin of Vermont pack, challenge you, Alpha Aidan of Attica pack, for your alpha title.”
The gasps and loud chatters overlapped the air, and from the corner of my eye, I saw Tara emit a shocked gasp, and slap her palms over her mouth.
