My Wife 39

Chapter 39

Not what? Not gay? Not attracted to him? Not Intine instead

Dr. Laurent dilici posh me. She just waited, her silence patient, giving me mom to breathe

I inhaled sharply and sat back down, my hands rubbing against my jeam…

| | thought | korie what I don’t know who I am anymore, I admitted finally, my voice harely above a whisper. I was in me. My whole life, i was supposed to be. And

My throat tightened

Now everything frels wrong.”

Dr. Laurent nodded, her expression unreadable. “It’s not uncommon to feel lost when you’re forced into a situation beyond your control. But this, what you’re struggling with, it seems personal. Separate from your marriage to Alessanden.”

I hated that she saw through me so easily

1 let out a hollow laugh, running a hand through my hair. I don’t even

Why do you think that?”

know why I’m talking about this. It’s printers. Nothing’s going to change

Because Alessandro controls everything,” I said bitterly. And even if I wanted toexplore whatever the hell this is, I can’t. He’d never let me go

What do you mean by that?, She asked

want to go back home, I changed the topic immediately

wan

Dr. Laurent remained quiet. She didn’t push, didn’t pry, just sat there, watching me as

as if waiting for something to slip through the cracks

The silence stretched, and I found myself shifting under it. I hated that. Hated the way she made me feel like I was unraveling without her saying a single word

I don’t know what you expect me to say,I muttered, rubbing the back of my neck. I don’t expect anything, she said calmly. I was just listening but it you’re done for today, I will let you leave earlier. But on your way out, fill another form to set up another appointment when you are ready. She stood up, and I did the same instantly

her a grateful nod before walking out of her office and to the desk

I spoke to the receptionist just enough for her to put a form on another clipboard and hand it to me. I smiled in thanks and sat down in the lobby

My eyes

skimmed over the page, the words entering and leaving my mind without my brain processing any of it

Youre supposed to fill that out, you know, Unfamiliar deep voice surprised e, and I practically jumped at of my seat, and lost my grasp on my clipboard and pen. I quickly somehow manage to grasped the clipboard and pull it into my body, thanking God that the pen was attached to it via a tiny tope

My eyes raised and landed on the stranger, who carefully watched me with an amused expression on his face. He leaned back in the chair nonchalantly

Who the hell are you?

You fucking scared me, I spoke while glaring at me

He past tilted his head, his hazel eyes not leaving my body

Upset, I looked down al my clipboard again and start filling at the form. I tried my best to not notice and care as he stood up to sit down in the chair right

Chapter 39

Growing increasingly uncomfortable under his gaze after a minute of silence, I slammed my pen down and locked overla

you staring at me?I said, my tone clearly hostile

Why are you

He wasn’t phased. Instead he hut thed his head slightly

Why are you rade to strangers, shat have I done to you?.

I raised in eyebrow, clearly confused. It really had the audacity to say that. My day was already culted, I didn’t want him to worse it

I sighed, rubbing my temples. Look, man, I’m not in the mood for whatever this it I muttered, picking up my pen again. The stronger didn’t move. He r kept watching me, like he saw something in me I didn’t want anyone to ter

Frit enough,he said after a moment, leaning back in his chair. But you look like you could use a distraction

I scoffed. From what?”

He smirked. You tell me

Iclenched my jaw, forcing my attention back to the form in front of me. My fingers gripped the pen so tightly it might map

The stranger didn’t say anything else, but he didn’t leave either. His presence was disturbing me even though he wasn’t doing anything. Finally, I inhaled sharply and turned my head. Do you always bother people in therapy offices, or an I just special

His lips twitched. Special”

I rolled my eyes, shoving the clipboard onto my lap. Great. Just what I needed today

He extended a hand. Logan.”

1 hesitated, staring at his outstretched palm. Then, against my better judgment, I shook it

Logan’s grip was firm, warm. He held on a second longer than necessary before letting go

“There,he said, settling back. Now we’re not strangers.”

Are you married?, He out of the blue asked. He wasn’t getting an answer to that question. He really had the guts to ask that

Your wife must be happy to have youHe tried talking to me again. Finding is unbearable, I sighed, set the clipboard down and fully turned to him

My marital status is none of your business.I spoke angrily. Instead of getting annoyed, the corners of his mouth tagged at a smirk, knowing he just chord with me. He didn’t reply immediately, he just continued to stare at me though, not breaking eye contact with me

Ignored him, then I turned back to my form and started to

out again

You know, this is the part where you have to tell me everything, since we aint strangers. He tried to press further

And this is the part where you mind your own business. I retorted. He immediately put his hands up like he has just been caught by the police o something

Beer, Sorry I’m just trying to be polite. He defended himself. This man had the actual nerve

Next time better, I stood up and stomped my way over to the desk then handed over the clipboard
