Chapter 3
After we got home, Damian gently carried me into the villa.
On the dining table was a candlelit dinner he had already prepared.
He thoughtfully placed food on my plate and asked if I liked it.
I nodded quietly, and his face instantly brightened with a smile.
“As long as Violet likes it, that’s enough. I just want to do nothing but watch you like this forever.”
I lowered my head and ate silently, offering no response.
After dinner, Damian got up and walked into the bathroom.
When I heard the sound of water running, I picked up his phone from the table, opened Whatsapp, and found his chat with Nora.
“Hubby, the baby has been crying all day. Maybe she misses her dad.”
“I miss you both too. Be good, I’m busy today, but I’ll come see you tomorrow.”
“No, I want to see you now!”
“Wait for me.”
Damian’s tone was soft, patiently comforting his newly–postpartum wife.
Damian had once told me that he hated letting emotions interfere with work. It turns out Nora was the exception.
No wonder, earlier at the fashion show, he rushed in and almost arrived late.
His excuse about a meeting at the company was just that–an excuse. He had been with Nora.
In all the years I’d known him, Damian had never lied to me–until now.
f scrolled through the chat, searching for dates.
I realized they’d been in constant contact every day.
“Hubby, I miss you so much.”
“Do you miss me physically or emotionally?”
“Both~”
“The little pregnant lady still can’t behave. Wait for me to come back and satisfy you.”
The Damian I knew was always composed and restrained, but now his lewd flirting felt strange to me.
Turns out, every time he made the excuse of being too busy with work, he was actually deep in a heated affair with Nora.
As I scrolled up, I found the chat records stopped around the time I got injured filming, two months ago.
“I’m so bored in the hospital, what are you doing?”
“Trying on new clothes.”
“Send me a picture.”
The photo
Nora wearing a nurse’s outfit, paired with lingerie.
“You’re trying to seduce me again.”
“Just admit it, you’re seduced! An 8–month pregnant woman, do you want to try it?”
The chat stopped there.
But I remember–it was that day, when Damian told me there was something urgent at the company leaving me alone in the hospital with my leg injury.
It turns out, he was rushing off to meet Nora and relieve his frustrations.
I stared at the blurry figure of Damian in the bathroom, a self–deprecating smile forming on my lips.
That time at the set, I could convince myself it was a spur–of–the–moment impulse, but now?
Damian, every time, you were willing, you initiated it.
Next, I opened Nora’s Instagram.
Pinned at the top were recent photos of her and Damian.
A passionate kiss on the beach, a close–knit family photo with the three of them, Damian holding her while she slept peacefully.
I stared at the photos, feeling suffocated.
If the child Damian initially was forced to keep was the result of obligation,
then what did his current actions–his time spent with Nora, his care–mean?
The sound of water stopped in the bathroom, and I returned the phone to its place.
The movie was still being filmed, and as the leads, Damian and I couldn’t afford any distractions right now.
It wasn’t the time to confront him.
Ten minutes later, the scent of body wash and his masculine scent enveloped me as he came out of the bathroom.
I turned to push him away. “I’m tired today.”
“Alright, we’ll do it another day.”
I took a deep breath, trying my best to ignore his presence.
I looked up at the ceiling, my mind restless.
I couldn’t sleep all night.
Damian,
You really don’t deserve my forgiveness.
Just a little longer.
Once this movie is over, I can leave you for good.
