Sonia’s laugh instantly drew Yvonne’s attention. Yvonne raised an eyebrow casually. Time to honor that bet, Dr. Richheld

Soma, driven by envy, had forgotten the wager between them. But with Christopher standing right there, she was determined not to make a fool of herself. Boldly, she spoke up, hands outstretched. “What bet? What did I say?”

“Dr. Richfield, how could you… A nurse couldn’t resist butting in. “You said if this young lady saved Mr. Matthew Sanchez, you’d owe her an apology, consider her your boss, and even surrender your deputy chief physician position”

“Did I really say that? Show me the proof Sonia denied it shamelessly.

What nerve! Another doctor couldn’t stand it any longer. “You did say it, and everyone heard it. At the very least, make an apology. After all, her earlier treatment of Yvonne was totally out of line.

“Why should I apologize?” Sonia challenged, wearing a defiant expression.

‘She’s hopeless. Everyone fell into silence, unsure of how to handle her.

Just then, Yvonne delivered a sharp kick swiftly. Sonia flopped down on her knees with a thud. No one could quite catch how Yvonne had moved. They only heard the sound of Sonia’s knee hitting the floor, undoubtedly causing pain..

“You you bitch… Sonia winced in pain, unable to stand up.

“As a doctor, saving lives is your duty. Yvonne stated coldly, her gaze icy, “Your scalpel is meant to heal, not to play!” “You… you better not slander me in front of Mr. Christopher Sanchez. I did nothing wrong!” Sonia trembled with anger. “Well, we all know what you did or wanted to do,” Yvonne retorted coldly.

At that moment, the hospital director, Clifford Franklin, dashed into the room. “Mr. Christopher Sanchez, how’s Mr. Matthew Sanchez holding up? Sorry for the delay, just got back from the academic exchange. What’s the deal here? Sonia, why are you on your knees?”

Sonia, overwhelmed with emotion, couldn’t help but shed tears, too pained to even stand. Clifford had held her in high esteem and had publicly praised her in front of numerous doctors earlier, setting her as an example for others.

But just as she was about to voice her complaints, Clifford’s surprised voice broke in. “Yvonne, what brings you here? And in asepsis clothes? Wait, are you the high school student who operated on Mr. Matthew Sanchez? I heard about it on my way over. So, is Mr. Matthew Sanchez all good now?”

Everyone was utterly shocked. ‘Mr. Franklin knows this young girl, and from his tone, he seems to highly respect her medical skills?

With no response, Clifford grew more puzzled. “What’s going on here? Yvonne, care to fill me in?”

“Mr. Franklin.” Yvonne gave him a nod and then succinctly stated, “Not much, just prefer not to see her in this field again.”

Clifford glanced at Sonia, then at Yvonne. “What did Sonia do to upset you?”

“Not that,” Yvonne’s eyes deepened, exuding a commanding presence. “It’s the first time I’ve heard of a doctor using sedatives and heart relaxers on a heart failure patient with endocarditis and valvular dehiscence”

“Hold on, administering those substances is like a last resort, and within half an hour, the patient would be gone!” Clifford turned back, staring at Sonia in disbelief.

Yvonne shrugged. “Seems like this hospital hires just about anyone.”

“Why didn’t you operate on the patient, Sonia?” Clifford questioned.

“His condition was critical at that time, and we couldn’t do much Sonia tried to clarify.

Clifford retorted. “Couldn’t do much, yet you pumped him with sedatives and heart relaxers? You know that move was a death sentence. You basically sealed the patient’s fate while there was still a chance to save him! How could you make that call

Before Sonia could respond, Clifford sighed in deep disappointment. “Go, Sonia. Betrico Hospital won’t have you anymore. You won’t be welcomed back in this industry.

Doctors who care more about themselves than their patients dont deserve the title, Clifford thought. As the head of the National Medical Association, all it took was a word from him for Sonia’s career to be over in the medical field

“Please, give me one more shot, Mr. Franklin. Sonia knew that Clifford was letting her go to avoid Christopher’s wrath, but she didn’t want to leave-good pay, friendly people, and a once-promising future. “It’s all this damn girl’s fault! she cursed inwardly.

“Get her out of here. Clifford ordered, then turned to Christopher. “I apologize for this oversight. Thankfully, Yvonne stepped in before things got worse.

“What’s your name?” Christopher’s gaze landed on Yvonne. It was evident that he was a man of few words, with even his expression as indifferent as his speech.

Yvonne replied gracefully, “Yvonne

“Give me your number,” Christopher handed her his phone.

Having accepted the blank check, Yvonne understood his intention perfectly-if there were any issues with Matthew later on, she would be responsible. After inputting her number, she handed back the phone, her beautiful eyes unwavering.

“Mr. Matthew Sanchez has undergone multiple open-heart surgeries. Early recovery stages can make his sternum fragile, with discomfort in the left leg a common post-surgery issue due to all the medical procedures, Yvonne explained, deflecting blame for any perceived lack of skill.

Christopher scrutinized hers features, his voice deep. “How do we lessen his pain?”

Yvonne glanced at the cardiac specialists behind him. “They can handle these minor concerns.” She turned to Clifford. “I’ll leave if nothing else comes up, Mr. Franklin.”

“Uh, sure,” Clifford nodded.

After changing out of her asepsis clothes, Yvonne threw on a baseball cap and hefted a backpack, ready to depart.

“Yvonne!” Yaron caught up with her in the hospital corridor. “Your right hand okay? I’ve been meaning to ask. Why use your left hand for surgery?” Right-handed people don’t usually switch like that.

“It’s nothing. Got into a bit too many fights last night. Yvonne moved her sore wrist slightly, indifferent.

“So, you can still fight. Yaron’s expression turned complex. Who on earth is she? She can get high-priced miracle drugs, perform surgery, and even fight…
