Chapter 85
Mason added, “From now on, the family’s business will rely entirely on you.”
“I won’t let you down, Jennifer said confidently.
Mason nodded. Just then, his phone rang. It was Lucas. He walked over to the floor–to–ceiling window and looked out at the skyline. “Hello?”
Lucas replied, “Mr. Dickens, the documents have been sent to your email address”
“Okay” Mason hung up and opened the email.
Jennifer assumed Mason was handling work matters, so she returned to her desk to take care of her tasks.
Mason clicked on the email, which contained a spreadsheet listing all the employees in the finance department. The first name on the list was Shirley, the finance director.
Mason’s grip on his phone tightened slightly..
Jennifer reserved the first floor of Fine Taste for a birthday party and an awards ceremony for the employees.
After receiving Shirley’s call, Seraphina took a taxi over.
Shirley stood at the restaurant entrance, waiting for her. As the only one celebrating double happiness tonight, Shirley was radiant, her lightly made–up face looking exquisite. She wore a fitted apricor–colored dress that accentuated her figure, Even at forty–three, she looked just as good as any young woman In terms of appearance, she was truly blessed.
Many passing men couldn’t help but glance at Shirley.
Seraphina walked over with a smile. “Mom, you’re so charming You turn a lot of heads.
Shirley chuckled lightly. With such a beautiful mom, are you proud?”
“Of course I’m proud.
Shirley took Seraphina’s hand. “I’m equally proud to have such an outstanding daughter.”
Seraphina nestled closer to Shirley. “It’s true that joy brings a glow. Mom, your compliment game is really strong lately.”
Shirley gently pinched Seraphina’s nose. “I’m not flattering you it’s the truth. You are beautiful.”
“That’s because you and Dad have good genes. Seraphina tilted her head, looking at Shirley. “But I feel like I didn’t inherit much of Dad’s handsome genes. All of Dad’s good genes went to Tommy!”
She resembled Shirley, while Tommy looked more like George.
Shirley’s smile faded slightly. “It doesn’t matter who you look like. What’s important is that both your dad and I love you.” That’s true, Seraphina smiled brightly. “The luckiest thing in my life is having you and Dad as my wonderful parents.” Shirley didn’t respond, lightly patting Seraphina’s shoulder, but a shadow of sadness appeared in her eyes.
Not far away. Jennifer had just gotten out of her car and noticed the interaction between Seraphina and Shirley. Their doseness made her feel a twinge of envy. She thought, ‘My mother has passed away years ago. I would never again be able to

Seraphina smiled. “Then I’m riding on my mom’s coattails.”

Seraphina playfully pouted, “What are you talking about? Mom is here.”
Jennifer laughed. “It’s normal for young men to marry and young women to marry off. Ms. Green wouldn’t mind, right?”
Shirley chuckled lightly. “She is too naive. I just worry she’ll get taken advantage of
“Sera isn’t aive. She’s just too picky, Jennifer said. “But a girl as beautiful as her has the right to be choosy. If someone truly outstanding comes along. I’ll definitely vet him for you.
Seraphina pouted, “Jenny, you’re getting more into it.”

Seraphina was speechless.
After some light banter, the three of them entered the restaurant
All three were stunning, drawing the attention of the employees at the gathering as soon as they arrived. Especially Seraphina, in her flowing blue dress, exuding a serene elegance that made her seem like a breath of fresh air.
Everyone complimented her. “Ms. Green, is this your daughter? She’s beautiful”
Someone echoed, “She looks just like you, and her demeanor is amazing. You’re like two peas in a pod.”
Shirley responded to everyone’s compliments with a bright smile as they took their seats closest to the stage.
Jennifer whispered, “Let’s sit for a bit. Once my dad arrives, we’ll start the party.”
Seraphina said, “Jeni, you go ahead and take care of things. Don’t worry about us.”
Jennifer patted Seraphina’s shoulder and walked away.
Seraphina said, “Mom, I’ve met Jeni’s dad. He’s so handsome and looks really young. He has no hint of middle–aged. greasiness at all. He works out regularly and maintains a great figure.
“You’ve even met her dad? I’m curious about how you and Jenny became friends, Shirley asked.
To ordinary folks, Jennifer was like a princess from a royal family, so it was surprising that she would befriend someone like Seraphina.
Seraphina was prepared for the question and replied calmly, “We met at the store. Jeni came in to buy clothes, and I was her sales assistant. We got to know each other over time and became friends.”
