But they will ended up lave. As they reached the dassroom door, they were caught red–handed by the homeroom teacher, Chloe turned pale, gagang for alt,‘Sorry, teacher. It’s my fauls for wasting time, I made Alice late?
Alice kept a straight face, saying nothing
The teacher glanced at them and said to Chloe with a friendly tone, ‘I understand. No need for explanations. Go inside.”
“Thank you, teacher”
Alice followed her inside, but then she heard the teacher’s stern voice, “Alice, don’t drag Chloe down again! This is the last warning!”
Alice turned back. “Teacher, Chloe made it clear it was her fault I was late.”
“Enough! I know your personality. If you keep arguing, you’ll be standing outside during class.”
Alice didn’t want to miss class as she was already behind. She entered the classroom in silence, feeling pretty down. She wished the exams would be over soon so she could escape from them.
During lunch, Chloe was surrounded by a crowd, sharing stories about her professional gaming team, making everyone envious. A follower looked at Alice and said, “Some people are just jealous of Chloe and deliberately make her late.”
Chloe smiled, offering no explanation.
Alice rested her head on the desk, ignoring the group.
After school, Chloe said, pointedly looking at Alice, “I’m going to training camp today.”
Alice quietly packed her book and left the classroom. Chloe watched her retreating figure with a smirk, saying to her follower, “Do my homework as usual. Don’t let the teacher find out.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll cover for you while you chase your dreams at the training camp.”
“Thanks, I won’t forget to reward you guys.”
Chloe left happily, determined to step all over Alice; she was the most qualified sister in the Welch family.
Alice with her backpack, headed straight to the infirmary. Jack sat in his chair, his refined face showing a hint of mockery,“What’s up?”
“I’m here to do homework, please take me in!” Alice entered confidently. As long as he didn’t throw her out.
Jack was surprised by her familiarity. He thought she’d be timid and afraid to come back.
But when she asked questions, she was still scolded.
“Can you stop thinking like a sieve? Whatever you put in just leaks out?”
“Don’t ask simple questions in the future; figure it out yourself.”
Alice didn’t argue. Instead, she took notes obediently..
The room was quiet, but her stomach growled loudly. She blushed; she had eaten a bread but was still hungry. Jack glanced at the time and ordered takeout, “Let’s eat first.”
Sitting across from him, Alice noticed the scars on his wrist and couldn’t help but ask, “When did you have that accident? Was it serious?”
Jack silently opened the takeout box and placed it on the table. He looked at Alice, his eyes clouded, “A long time ago.”
“Me too. My parents died in that car accident, leaving me and my brothers to rely on each other.”
Thinking of her past dependence on her brothers, a hint of self–mockery flashed in her eyes. After their parents passed, they had a tough time together, and their sibling bond was strong. Then Chloe arrived, and everything changed.
Jack’s grip on his spoon tightened.“What are your plans?”
