Chapter 63
Luke felt like his brain had been scrambled. Those secret strategies–Alice had come up with them. He hadn’t thought much of it before, but now, with the finals approaching and no suitable Gunner, he’d used Alice’s suggestions. He stared at the screen, shocked, Was “Sweet Lemon” Alice?
Luke rushed out.“Who are you?” He didn’t want to accept the truth, but he had to. Why had Alice hidden her identity? Why had she mocked him? Why wouldn’t she rejoin Landing Team?
Alice dodged his attack.“Don’t use those moves. They’re useless against me.”
“Alice, is that you? Answer me!”
She said calmly, “I told you before, your strategies have flaws. You haven’t improved.”
Alice launched a counterattack. Luke was powerless, falling before her. Alice won, advancing to 90th place! The chat exploded:
*Amazing! Sweet Lemon beat a pro player!*
*Landing Team’s captain is a jerk, but he’s skilled. You beat him!*
The battle video spread like wildfire. Chloe, still livestreaming, was trying to smear “Sweet Lemon,” gaining followers. Then she saw Luke’s defeat. Impossible! How could Luke lose? She rushed out to find him.
“Where’s Luke?”
“After the match, the boss left, dejected. No one paid attention.”
Chloe stomped her foot. How embarrassing!
After the battle, Alice explained the match, highlighting Luke’s flaws and how his personality affected his gameplay–things she’d pointed out before. He’d never listened.
Alice logged off and received a message from Noah:“[Sweet Lemon] is you, right?”
She replied, “Does it matter?”
Noah sighed.“Livestreaming isn’t easy. It’s a cutthroat business. A young girl like you will get hurt.”
“I know.”
“If you’re going to livestream, join Green Fruit Live. Luke will protect you.”
Alice found it ironic. Luke protect her? She’d just escaped the Windhams; she wouldn’t let anyone control her
again.
She didn’t reply. Another message from Noah:
[Alice, any platform is fine, but don’t join Blitzkrieg Team. Luke can’t handle it.]
Alice smirked. Blitzkrieg Team’s captain was John Wilson, Luke’s rival. But which team she joined was none of
their business.
She didn’t reply. Chloe was livestreaming, twisting the truth, accusing Alice of breaking her promise and going to Shrimp Live. Alice ignored it.
Shrimp Live called. “Sweet Lemon, have you decided? Any requests?”
“I start school in two months. I can’t livestream daily.”

“No problem. We can change it to weekend livestreams. How about that?”
Alice was surprised. So easy?
“I’ll think about it.”
“We’re a strong platform. Don’t let Green Fruit Live mislead you. They offered you $500,000, right? We’ll offers million a year. What do you think?”
A million? Alice was tempted.“Sounds good. I’ll reply later.”
After hanging up, she left the study. Jack was on the sofa, on the phone. He hung up hearing her footsteps.“Fruit’s on the table.”
Alice’s throat was scratchy. She brought out the fruit.“Shrimp Live called. They agreed to weekend–only livestreams and offered $1 million.”
“They see your potential. Signing you is a smart move.”
Alice smiled. “No more worries about tuition and living expenses!” Since leaving the Windhams, she hadn’t used her credit cards or her savings.
Jack’s gaze was deep. “Anything else you want to do?”
Alice found the question strange.“Nothing. Earning money solves my problems.”
After eating fruit, she went to her room. Garrett emerged from his room.“Jack, you paved the way for Alice; she’ll be fine. Should you go now?”
Jack’s gaze darkened.“After she starts school.”
Garrett sighed. “Don’t fall for her! She’s great, but you two aren’t a good match.” The accident had sealed their fate. Alice didn’t know who Jack was; if she did, things would change. What if that accident hadn’t happened?
Alice signed with Shrimp Live the next day. She wanted to earn money. Shrimp Live sent an invitation:[Net Idol Salon tomorrow night. Come if you’re available.]
Alice remembered wanting to go last time, but Luke took Chloe. She had regrets. She’d need a dress. She only had
casual clothes.
She went to Jack’s room, finding it empty. A note was on the table:[Alice, we’re out!] Garrett’s handwriting.
She decided to go shopping. At the mall, she bumped into Jane.
“Alice, what are you doing here?”
“Shopping for clothes.”
“Are you going to the Net Idol Salon tomorrow?”
“How did you know?”
“I guessed. My brother works there, and he said ‘Sweet Lemon‘ might go.”
Alice didn’t hide it.“Going alone?”
“I just left the internet cafe. My family doesn’t allow me to game. I’ll help you shop!”
They went to the top floor. Jane saw the brands. “These clothes are expensive.”
I have money!” Alice went into a store. A salesperson approached. “Miss Alice, may I help you?”
