Chloe’s smile faltered. She thought they were there for her.
But it was all about Alice!
Chloe forced a smile.“She left after work.”
“You didn’t invite her?”
‘I invited her, but she didn’t want to dine with me. She didn’t get along well with the others.”
Chloe explained with feigned helplessness.“I really tried my best.”
Luke softened slightly. “I know Alice has a terrible temper, but I didn’t expect her to go to the branch office to fix the problem. I wondered how long she’d last.”
Noah chuckled wryly.“I convinced her to go. She’s the only one who can solve this firewall issue.”
“Noah, Alice did this on purpose. Why did you make her go? We can just scrap the project.”
“The project has a significant investment. We can’t just drop it. This is business, not a child’s game. Your livestream company is also losing money. Think about how you’ll explain the finals‘ loss to Ethan.” Noah left, disappointed.
Alice wasn’t there. He didn’t want to stay.
A hint of embarrassment flickered across Chloe’s face. Was Alice “that” important?
Luke was angry.“Noah is increasingly biased towards Alice.”
Chloe gritted her teeth.“After all, Alice is his biological sister. He’ll naturally feel softer towards her.”

Luke still doubted Alice’s involvement, believing Noah had simply put her name on the project list.
Chloe and Luke eventually joined the company dinner, basking in the attention.
After leaving in the car, Noah texted Alice, “How was your first day at the company? Tell me immediately if anyone bullies you!”
Alice had just returned to her apartment.
A message from Noah came.

Afice looked at him calmly.“That’s not my job.”
“You’re in the tech department. Of course, it’s your job.”
“My job is to fix messes, like the firewall.”
Her tone was cold; she didn’t bother pretending to be nice anymore.
She just wanted to finish the firewall issue and leave. She didn’t want to work here.
The team leader, unused to such defiance from a newbie, was enraged. She actually went against him, her superior, on her second day here!
“I’ll tell the manager to fire you!” He shook in anger.
“Go ahead.”
Alice ignored him and continued coding.
Her fingers flew across the keyboard, her coding shown on the screen.

“Don’t worry. I’m better than you.”
Alice was unapologetic.
Chloe arrived, still dressed impeccably, greeting everyone with a haughty air.
Seeing Alice’s coding, she had a bad feeling.
If Alice solved the firewall issue, Noah would favor her even more.
She needed a plan to stop it. She narrowed her eyes.

Alice looked up and saw Luke. She was surprised.
