She whispered, “Is she the girl eating with you at the restaurant?”

Silence fell between them.
Noah went out of the exam room in a wheelchair. He looked pale.
Alice said in a detached tone, “The doctor said you need treatment and medication. Plus, you need to stop
drinking.”
“I’m forgetful. You used to supervise my medication. I often forget it now that you’re not home.”
Noah’s words implied something. He saw Alice’s eyes softened.
She still cared about him.
He would rather endure the illness if doing this could bring her back.
Alice smirked. “You can ask Chloe to remind you to take medicine. She loves doing that.”

Jack pulled his collar and looked at her intently. “What?”

Jack stepped closer and looked down at her. “Ask anything you want.”
Under his intense gaze, Alice backed off until her back was against the elevator wall.
She bit her lip.“Nothing.”
Jack got a bit upset. He lightly tapped her forehead.“Don’t think too much.”
Alice touched her forehead.
What did he mean? Did she need to think less about Noah’s hospitalization or Jack’s girlfriend?
The elevator opened. Alice just ran off.
